Folks, I need some help diagnosing an issue I have with my new (<100 rounds) AK103 from PSA. The pics below are from two incidents during the same sessions and can show you better than I can describe but it seems I have an extraction issue. Mags are from PSA, ammo is from a spam can that I bought from my local gun store. All of the rounds at the very least look good to go. Issue is happening at random times, sometimes after the first shot, sometimes I get through half a mag and we're stuck again. Weapon was cleaned before this last shoot. Pics:     Any help would be very much appreciated. |

Hammer hump. The carrier rides over the hammer and causes stoppages. Just had to break my psa in as well. Takes a good amount to break in. Dremmel can make it quicker. Solution: rack the carrier 4-500 times then shoot a few more mags. |

| YEah that tracks - Hop did a video on modernizing an AK and he had that mount (actually I think he had two versions of that mount) and both did the same thing...he's even got video of it happening. Which sucks...there's not a whole lot of ways to mount an optic to an AK which will let you also fold the stock.. |

Would you mind sending me the link to this video? I'm curious to see what else he finds out. Since I have the Midwest Industries handguard on the rifle, I am going to try the optic forward on the handguard. That's a new setup for me, but I have seen it enough times on other folks rifles to say it works. |

That's a good eye by @tranzformer. I'd try dremeling the area that's missing its anodizing to get some of that material out of the way to get rid of the cartridge bounce-back. If it doesn't work, keep grinding. I think it's worth the gamble because I think it will work. If you're too hesitant to do that, try adhering something soft to the aforementioned area to slow down the cartridge bounce. Maybe it's in time with your handle and the handle is throwing it back in. Disrupt the timing between the two. It may even go away some once springs change rate. |
