GOOOORGEOUS rifle.

When I was in VA I had a bunch of these and was waiting for those mags to come out, then I had to move back to NY and of course, the mags are perfect and available...

Thanks!  Those mags are hard to find now too!

I sold that .308 after all that work on it.  A lucky forum member has it now!  It's was just way too expensive to shoot these days.

Ha!  No, the fact that it's a side-folder installed on a .308.  You don't see those all that often.

Great looking AKs.  I notice no one had the tapco collapsable stock.  I was thinking of getting one. What do you guys think of them?

Seriously,  I have shot an AK with a tapco collaspable stock on it.  It felt great but it's just not for me.  I belive Krebs custom guns uses a similar "AR style" stock on their offerings...I just prefer my ak's to have the original correct furniture to their origin but if you like it....thats all that matters!  Go for it.

Please man, for all that is right and just, PLEASE elaborate how on earth you obtained an RPG. Is it a deact? I'm willing to bet it has to be.

If the SHTF I am coming to your house...:)

It's very much a de-mill and done very well.  It's an old Russian RPG-7 and de-mill hole is under one of the heat shields.  I use it and a variety of rocket rounds for training pretty frequently.  Nice to have your own training equipment but you tend to be very cautious of how folks use them.  It's an old photo and don't usually show it - most folks seem to spot the 40rd Russian bakelite in 7.62mm that's in the RPK instead of the RPG.  Thanks for the comments on the RPG, though.  They seem to be getting few and far between now that they've been on the hit list for importation.

Rayman

You have the nicest and most tasteful collection on this entire board. Nice work....

I appreciate the kind words and wish my two AKS-74U's (a 1979 clone and a late 1980's era clone) had made a spot in the photo as I forgot them that day.

But I hardly think my stuff meets some of the exceptional builds members here and some of the other boards have done.  There's some truly beautiful representations that obiously were expensive to make.  Mine were almost all done myself with lots of tinkering/tweaking/dremeling with hand tools using bring-back parts.  Just some Missouri craftsmanship - nothing on the level of some of the members' rifles here that gave me inspiration for mine.

Rayman have you ever thought of redoing those RPK74 builds on NDS RPK receivers?

I know the thought must have crossed your mind by now.

Maybe I'm missing it but I didn't notice the bulge around the front trunnion area.

They're on the list for re-do at the beginning of the year sometime.  It's an old photo and haven't brought most of the rifles down to Arizona from Missouri.  I do have a correct RPK that also didn't make the photo but just need to do-up the RPK-74 again.

Hope it's alright to post a few more as I can never get enough photos for inspiration/motivation myself - some are dated from old projects:

East German MPiK project (found a real one in Iraq and brought home the wood)

Iraqi/Romanian AKM (again, brought back the furniture)

Russian AK project

Russian AKS and AKM (AKS on Russian kit which was a sheer-luck find and AKM with bring-back wood from almost new Tula rifle)

Nice Rifles Rayman!  One question... Did you sanitize that lower handguard from Iraq?  I know they wipe with their left hands, just wondering if you get pink eye whenever you change contacts back in after coming home from the range...

Hehehe!  I've never thought about that to tell someone that.  It was really interesting to see the modifications and custom gunsmithing on a lot of the guns found there when it came to handguards and buttstocks.  It was apparent there were some guys with a lot of actual gunsmithing potential - unfortunately safety and detail were skills not mastered with most.

Daffy: is that a Marlin 39D I see amongst the AKs?  Nice, inspired me to get mine out and clean it up.  Methinks I'll take it to range with me next weekend.
