Hi all, I've got an NHM91 that I picked up in 1995 NIB. It did not, however, come with the factory bipod. I've seen two different models of Norinco bipods online, with folks claiming that both are the original one for the NHM91. The primary difference I see is the locking mechanism--some of these bipods have thumb screws, others have little paddles. See the links below for examples. Which one is the correct, original type? Or are they both correct? My original owner's manual for my rifle has a photo of the gun on the cover, complete with bipod. It appears to be the paddle variety, not the thumb screw version. Any insights would be appreciated, as would recommendations for aftermarket bipods that folks have used on NHM91s before. Thumb Screw Version Paddle Type Version Thanks! Dr. Blank |

@DrBlankW30 First one with the thumb screw is an actual NHM-91 bipod. Rare and hard to find. Second one is just a chinese AK Quick Detach bipod, which I don’t think even will fit a NHM-91. They are made for the MAK-90 instead, modeled after the NHM bipod. Not so rare. If I recall correctly, the barrel diameter on the -91 is too large for the second type to even close around it. I do own both types of rifles, and both types of bipods. Will see if I can find them and measure…. |

Yep- just confirmed, that second one with the push release will not fit an NHM-91, but does fit a MAK-90. Easy way to know is that the real NHM bipod uses a roll pin to mount, and uses thumb screws, while the generic MAK bipod has the spring loaded screw that you push to open up the clamp and the legs have spring loaded latches to adjust length. I wish I would have bought one years ago when the prices were more reasonable, but better late than never. Thanks again for the detailed insights! |
