Mods, please move this if this query is in the wrong place or not within the rules. Loooong ago, I acquired a Chicom milled receiver MAK 90, angled rear receiver. Also loooong ago, I swapped out the fire control group, stock set, and some other stuff so I could get rid of the thumbhole abomination and comply with 922r. It seems to be of the renamed Polycoms that made it in with the thumbhole stocks and the bayonet lug sheared off. I am considering possibly selling it to fund some other gun projects and also replace it with another less collectable variant for casual shooting. My questions: - Any ideas on the value of this thing? I can and will post pics once a Mod says it is ok. - What is a good solid shooter-grade AK to look into as the successor to the milled AK. Value depends on what kind of work you did. Seems like stock slant cut milled MAK90s are still averaging in the $1000-1200 range. Unfortunately a slant cut receiver will always be worth slightly less, even if you have a purpose fit stock like the ones that Ironwood used to do. |

@Canute Milled Mak-90 rifles run around 1000-1300 for a range. Recent gunbroker sales varied from $956-1300. They have been in that kind of price range for a while now. With that decent Ironwood stock, I would personally think you are looking at a top dollar of say $1200-1300, or 1000 if you wanted to sell it quick. Not worth anything close to 3k, that is real Polytech Legend pricing… |

I had the exact same quandary with mine, it was sell it, or buy some furniture to make it useable (I got it with a thumbhole and junk hand guards). It had sat in the back of a safe for at least 15 years or more in a disassembled state up until then. Decided to keep it and shoot it, dropped some money on it to make that happen, and it is one of my favorite shooters now. So my suggestion would be to keep it and just shoot it. They are a nice AK variant, and internally are the same as a Polytech Legend. |
