Hey guys I just picked up a square back receiver Mak-90 and I was thinking about replacing the stock with a Bakelite side folding kit. Would like to keep the trigger since it's nice. May also want to install a spiker also. That or maybe replace the front sight base and handguard retainer to mount a bayonet and cleaning rod. Thread barrel for a flash hider. Anything I'm forgetting? To stay 922R compliant what would you all recommend?  |

Sounds like you got everything. I will add one warning about the bakelite. I am not an expert and I don't know if there are different types of bakelite, but the bakelite stock I put on my MAADI AK would dissolve if hit with gun scrubber spray. I was cleaning it one day years ago and got some of the spray on the foregrip and it started dissolving. It is still on the rifle, I just won't use gun scrubber on it. |

I think I read something years ago that some Bulgarian FSB are the correct diameter. Check your barrel diameter in the front. It looks turned down pretty far and might not have enough material to thread. |

Ended up finding a Polytech barrel front end. So now I'm thinking to thread the Mak-90 barrel and swap out the hand guard retainer, gas block, and front sight. Oddly enough this Polytech front sight has open ears and not an enclosed circle. Must be an early version like the Legend. That or I could swap out the complete barrel and drill the gas part. I guess if you swap the barrel you'd have to headspace it.  |
| Yes and before anything - check both barrel diameters to make sure they are identical. You need to find a real Ak gunsmith. I think you’re going to spend more than just selling and buying a preban Norinco. |
