Picked up a 308 RPK kit from Riley defense and one of the milled tortort receivers they had done up. It was pretty hashed and took a lot of metal finishing . The wood was trash so I found an NOS set and used it instead. Blued the whole thing. Turned out good. One of the rarer AK variants and one of the few major power squad automatic variants

Super Nice!!! If I was going to build a 308 - I would want it just like that - NOW if only there was a drum mag  I didn't know there were any of the RPK 308 kits left - When I looked at the standard model the kit+ Receiver price was about the same as Riley assembled rifle. |

Aftermarket drum mags for an M14 should be able to be convinced to fit. I'll have to see if I can find a Cmag M14 mag. They still have some RPK kits left but I cant imaging its many. I first saw one of the 40 pre ban Mitchell imports in 1992 at a gun show in Oregon and it was the princely sum of $1800 with the ZRAK scope . i was a poor student and $1800 might as well have been 18 million. Its always been a bucket list gun. Ive got a pile of M76 grips inbound from Europe and that gun is getting one assuming they clear customs. Knock on wood. Standard 308 M77 kits are running around 300 bucks. receivers with barrels $650 so $950 total. Still not bad for a M77 with a milled receiver if youre doing the assembly. Ive got a couple more Im building as standard guns. Ones going to get a M21 side folder. |
