I have a few partially completed builds that are in various stages of completion. Since the good old days of building from cheap import kits are long gone and the new days of FRTs is right now, I want MORE! How would you rate the quality and durability of their front trunnions, bolts and cheap barrels? I have been running one of the chrome bolt carriers and haven’t had any issues to date, even with it being in a fully semiautomatic configuration. These are all just going to be range toys and nothing more. |

Now that ammo isn't $89 a case I can't put one through what I did my wasr almost 20 years ago but I use PSA AKs as beater range AKs and have held up okay. I broke a couple things on my AKv but nothing serious and I run that one pretty hard. They do sell a Romanian kit build for a decent price that will definitely have good core parts. They have FN barreled Romanian builds too that I wish I had gotten a few years ago when they were really cheap. For $600-$700 I think you would get your money worth as long as you can make it work reliable in full semi. I wouldn't call mine unreliable but I do get the occasional malfunction. |

Thanks for your input. I too miss the $89/K OTD ammo. At that time, I had a C2 and managed to shoot out the barrel on a SAR-1. I rebarreled it with a new AMD-65 barrel from a $65 Tapco parts kit, lol! Of the four AKs that I’ve added parts to, three are home built using foreign parts. I guess we’ll see how these hold together. I have more blind faith in them than the CAI made parts that I’ve passed over. I’ll definitely try them out. I just need to stop putting together ARs with super safeties. Thanks again for your insight! |
