Just bought two brand new 20 round KCI 7.62x39 STEEL magazines. One works fine the other one does not let the bolt even begin to close. So what kind of adjustments can be done to the mag? |

I bought one KCI 7.62x39 magazine and one KCI M1 carbine mag. Both were made from thinner than standard sheet metal. They worked, but neither was worth the price. Commie AK mags cost the same, or less, and GI Carbine mags always work, all the time. Disappointed, I gave them both away. Cannot recommend. |

Does the bolt close on the problem mag when the mag is empty? If so you likely just overloaded the mag, or the rounds started stacking wrong (it can happen) so there was too much force required to strip a round out of the mag. If the bolt won’t even close on an empty mag, yeah the feed lips are off, or the mag is sitting too high. You can mess with it and likely get it to function, or just send it back for a replacement. The Korean mags I have tried in AK’s were the Global ones- like $4 or $5 each, thinner sheet metal, but they fit fine. AK mags are not exactly as difficult to make function well as some other firearm designs… |
