So I bought an Arsenal SAS M7 Classic from my local gun store Saturday. I sold my first ak I bought, a KUSA KR103 for a little more than I paid for it last year. After shooting it I had decided I wanted something with wood furniture next and wasn't really wow'd at all when shooting the polymer AK, didn't like the feeling of the grips. So when I saw this at my local gun store for only $1600 I had to, didn't know all that much other than it was a steal for an arsenal.

Sadly though I like in the terrible non free state of Illinois so I have to wait 3 days to pick up my beauty, but I have been doing some research and realized that the wood furniture isn't original. See below, pardon my broken phone camera glass, no you don't have cataracts

So from my understanding these guns only came with blond furniture, with a very small quantity coming having bakelite. I cant find anything mentioning any coming from the factory with this darker laminate wood.

Is there any way of figuring out what wood this is? I love it and have no desire to change it really, just want to see what I can figure out. If you need better pictures I'll send them as soon as my gun is free from gun timeout

Its quite possible someone stained the blond furniture (upper/lower handguards).  If there's no polyurethane on it, you might be able to bring the blond back.  That pistol grip isn't original, it looks laminated.

Nice gun though!

I’d be surprised if those were original blonde handguards that were stained. Bulgarian blonde was beechwood, which doesn’t have that sort of grain pattern.
