That may be the first time that sentence has been written . So I have a Polish under folder built on a matching parts kit with original barrel . Pretty much my grail AK. It was built for a friend over 20 years ago who has since passed. The Tapco trigger in it is 2 stage like most, but the actual release after the slack is taken up is around a pound. Not hyperbole. That's way,way too light for my comfort. How would I go about safely making the trigger heavier? Since everyone likes pictures:

That was just one batch of them. Easily fixed, plus they sent out correct disconnectors on request. And the disconnector has nothing to do with the trigger to hammer relationship when initially pulling the trigger anyhow. The G2 trigger is not a 2 stage trigger either, it is a single stage, just a long one. It does not have takeup, then a wall, where you have to press harder to finish the trigger motion, so that is why OP feels that it has a light second stage… |

A one-pound break on a Tapco G2 is definitely a safety concern. Because Tapco triggers are only surface-hardened, when they're filed down (as people often do), too much material being removed can expose the softer metal underneath. This leads to rapid wear and eventually causes hammer follow or doubling. Before changing anything, I’d function check it for hammer follow (hold the trigger back, rack the action, then slowly release it and feel/listen for a proper reset). The first thing I’d do is function check it for hammer follow (hold trigger, rack the action, then slowly release). If you want to increase pull weight safely, start with the hammer spring legs. If they’ve been bent upward to lighten the pull, you can carefully bend them back down to restore tension. Just don’t overdo it. It’s also worth checking the disconnector spring; if it’s been clipped or weakened, replacing it can help with a more consistent break and reset. If the engagement surfaces were altered too much, I wouldn’t trust the trigger long-term. At that point, replacement is your safest option. A surplus Polish FCG would keep it period-correct, or something like a Rak-1 or ALG AKT (with the heavy spring) will give you a solid, safe pull weight. |

My first time firing a rifle with tapco g2 I was getting bumpfires and had to pack it up and go home. If you trap the trigger and slowly release like you are bullseye shooting a Glock you will get doubles with a light single stage trigger. Better to not ride the reset, its a bad habit. That being said I prefer 2 stage for safety. |

The G2 isn't a light trigger. The AKT isn't particularly light either. I despise 2 stage. They always feel long a mushy. If you want your tapco to be heavier try heavier springs. Or pull the trigger with your finger higher on the trigger. |
