| So... assuming you had a low round count GP1975 with a canted FSB and a couple loose front trunion rivets (heads lift slightly) who would you send it to for repair -- or is such a rifle not cost effective to make right? Just curious. |
| I wouldn't send it to anyone, both of those issues are very simple to fix, and can be performed with very little in the way of hand tools. The rivets are especially simple. |

| I'm the first to admit that my knowledge of AKs is limited, but it looks to me like fixing the rivets requires them to drilled out and replaced. Apparently whoever built this thing tried to shoot them against the barrel -- and failed. In theory the FSB should be easy but I can't get it to budge even after heating it. |

Heat is not the way, heat makes metal expand, cold causes it to shrink. Before I try to drive the pins out, I soak it in penetrating oil and put it in a trashbag, and let it sit a couple days, then I put the whole thing in the freezer for 30-45 minutes or so. After that it's super easy to pop pins out and rotate FSB. On the rivets, are you saying someone used the barrel for a bucking bar when installing them? If so then yeah, you may need to have it all taken down and re-done. ETA: just re-read your first post, and you clearly state the rivets are loose and can be moved, sorry man, I need to read more carefully. If those rivets move then yeah, got to be re-done. Shouldn't be that bad though for someone with the right tools, any good builder should be able to fix you up lickety split, i'd say it's worth fixing and keeping. |
