Just got my M92 and broke it down.  Seems perfectly fine to just fire with zero prep.  Good lube on the bolt and piston.  No crusty cosmoline as I've seen others mention.

Any tips and tricks to lubing what seems like a ridiculously simple and straightforward weapon?

No different than any other weapon. Grease is your friend.
