I just ordered one of these build kits from Zasatava. Anyone own one? Any issues? I did see a couple videos from when they first came out. Both rifles looked solid. I wanted a Yugo underfolder and like that these come with the original dated trunnions and gas cut off grenade sights vs. a new production gun. And they're a few $100 cheaper. They're probably not as solid as the new builds, but this won't be a high round count gun for me. PAPM70AB2 (SURPLUS RIFLE) $999 Our PAP M70AB2 rifles are built from original AB2 demilled kits directly from the factory. They feature a 1.5mm receiver with a bulged front trunnion, and have new US made chrome lined barrels. Original underfolder stock, flip up night sights, and grenade/gas cutoff are just a few of the original factory features on this rifle! The rifle comes with one PMag and one original surplus Serbian steel magazine.

I have one. I like it as I previously had one of the Century builds from 20 years ago. I stupidly traded for something else. I haven't shot it yet as I suffered from a detached retina shortly after purchase. i cannot shoot til it heals. Attached File |

Picked up mine today. Glad I ordered this for $300 less than the new Zasatava underfolder I was going to pick-up. I'm really impress with this build. Other than the almost in the white cleaning rod I promptly replaced, everything looks great. Side folder locks up tight. There were a few areas of rust that I removed, but that just gives it more character. There's also some funky piece in the trigger group that I thought was part of the full auto mechanism. But it seems to act like a bolt hold open? The only marks I could find on the barrel looks like a "29"? maybe someone can ID the barrel manufacturer? My bolt looks new. This looks like a damn near unissued kit, and the URJ markings on the receiver look great - nice to see a Zastava with no "Read The Owner's Manual" on the side. Wish could still buy these in shit ass WA state - I was born in 1983 and I need a 1983 M70. Eta: part of me sort of doubts that the barrels are really US made. They look like typical Zastava barrel tooling marks, and since Zastava makes chrome lined barrels now, I wouldn't be surprised if they just sent them out. The trigger group is definitely not US made, and even includes the original rate reducer. Nothing about these builds looks 922r compliant - not that I care. |

Underated rifles and the underfolder has a great angle unlike the Romanian and Chinese AKs. I'd jump on one if x39 was reasonable and I could still stack it |

I put two mags through my Zasatva kit build and Century DCI build today. Steel and brass ammo (Mark-I brass case from Atlantic). Both ran flawlessly. The DCI was the smoother of the two, but it had been broken in by the prior owner. Both just needed slight front sight adjustments, and I was able to blast the trash on the hillside at 30+ yards. The under folding stocks seem to work well for me, even though others don't like them. Being a lefty, I might swap the button to the right side, as the sling swivel kind of interferes with my shooting hand. I'm still waiting on a new dust cover for the DCI to replace the scope mount dust cover. I ordered a random one for Centerfire Systems, but it's for a milled M70 & doesn't fit. I'm happy with the results from both rifles but should have just ordered a second kit build from Zastava based on how much I have in the DCI build. And the DCI ended up being a non-matching kit, so a different serial number dust cover is no big deal. IMHO, these Zastava kit builds are one of the nicest clones you can get for the price. I like this more for recreational shooting over the new Zastava UF's. But for end of the world use, I'd take the new rifles being built. | I just received my m70ab2 from Zastava and… it is beautiful, it is ruffed up, the smell, the workmanship, it is a beautiful ak. Worth ever moment as I saved for months to get it. I love it, I will add photos, but I am saving to get hopefully one or two more. Great guns and great company |

I broke down and ordered one. It should ship this afternoon. I’m crossing my fingers that I get one with a ‘ZASTAVA - KRAGUJEVAC YUGOSLAVIA’ roll stamped rear sight block. UPDATE: Just picked it up from my FFL. Super happy…1983 with the roll stamp on the RSB! I would have been happy either way but even my FFL said I was grinning ear to ear when I flipped it over and saw ‘ZASTAVA - KRAGUJEVAC YUGOSLAVIA’. The original rifle definitely saw heavy use with the amount of finish wear and patina on the original parts. No trench art but a nice dark finish to the hand guards with the glorious smell of oils and cosmoline still lingering about. I’ll try to get pictures posted in the next few days. Best purchase I’ve made in awhile.

| got mine today, today, to say disappointed is an understatement. it looks like it is from the bottom of the ocean. has a dent in the front of the receiver from an over pressed rivet. the stock is rusted and loose...it already has gouged the receiver on the left side . sent an email and we will see how they respond...this is a pos and they should be ashamed it got sent out . |

i emailed them and i am waiting to see what they say to be fair. The bolt is extremly hard to charge, i am having to basically force it open and struggle at that....its as if the rails are too low to push the hammer down. (my chinese ak i can charge with 2 fingers...no effort my zpap is similar) . I question if this is safe to shoot i have sent them a video ion instagram and several emails i should not be suprised i got an m90 from rural king and no magazines fit in it , too tight. so i am waiting on a steel magazine . so thats likely gonna have to go too ...ugh i should have just bought that pioneer ...at least i would have had lower expectations |

I have one that I got several months ago. While I haven't shot it yet, I am impressed and absolutely love the rifle. Receiver finish is nice. Mine has a bit of a worn look on the underfolder and the wood handguards, as the top handguard has a gouge of wood missing. I might swap it out, but for now, I like that it adds extra character and uniqueness. |

sent them am email this afternoon just seeing if they had looked at them....no reply but then at 530 i got a tracking number sent to me...no explainations...wtf ??? thats not how that works...i emailed again. I wont take these back unless i have an explanation of what was done .... am i expecting too much here? |

also posted on ak forum they sent my m90 back. They refunded me for the surplus underfolder with zero communication. They said it was safe but they did not think i would be happy with any of the ones they had. I am less than thrilled with their customer service to be honest, i bought a new cover and stock to replace the parts in anticipation of them sending it back after inspecting it for safe function. They may make nice stuff but they have zero customer service skills. I just wanted a nice surplus underfolder..... |

| Man, I hate to say this brother but I am going to reach out to Zastava and see if I can buy your rifle. I have a few of these surplus guns from Zastava and I just love them. The character each guns has, the smell, my sights are canted on one pretty hard but maxed out it is zeroed and shoots great. I carry it everywhere, everyday at work it is Literally sitting next to me right now I just love it. I hope they will sell it to me, all aks need homes and ours will shoot the crap out of it. I am sad you had a bad experience but I have almost every one of there guns minus the 50 and just love them. I purchased m70s for all my 6 kids and put two away in case we have more. I just really enjoy there company so I guess I will post here how it goes when I email them. If I get it I will shoot it and post how it holds up. |

It's interesting to me that every Zastava gun I've had has smelled the same. Even the old ass SKS that was the first centerfire semi I bought over 20 years ago Same smell... almost cosmoline but not. The Yugo SKS went in the oven at one point, bled all the cosmoline out. I even rebarreled it, but the smell is STILL there. |

They do, I laugh I purchased my first wasr over 20 years ago like 2003 ish , all the guys older then me said aks were trash and not worth anything. My first ak was a wasr 10 at $280 with bayonet and two mags.. I purchased it and a case of 1000rds for $65 dollars… I saved like crazy for a few paychecks working at a burger joint, a skate shop, and on a farm. It was the best $350 or so dollars I ever spent. I remember cleaning out just globs of grease it came in a bag just full of it. I cleaned it off, went out into the hills, burned through 800rds as it smoked and cracked…. I fell in love I just love that smell.. the Zastavas have that rugged cosmoline grease smell it just hits a part of me… I love it Zastava hit me back today with an amazing email made me love the company even more, I am working on purchasing this gun and a few others, man I want a black arrow…some day.. maybe soon, but I will let you guys know how it goes. So far they have been great at communicating back. I hope to buy this rifle and shoot it a bunch with my kids.. I will keep you all posted cheers.. |

I was a poor 20 years ago too, I still am but your story is almost exactly like mine  A wasr10 for under $300 was my first then one of these to upgrade a year later where my first two. It wasn't nothing to basically mag dump a case between the two every other weekend. If I didn't already have a couple m70s I'd of jumped on one. Even with x39 being too much for what it is. The sam7uf and these where the only underfolders I've owned or shot and never found them bad to shoot. Those two have the straight fold unlike Chinese and Romanian. |

| I’ll let you know if it is the one, I am currently trying to talk my wife into it, haha 6 kids and bills make gun purchases way back in the burner. But she knows how much I love a good Ak so hopefully some sugar and sweet talk this Easter weekend and I can get it haha… let us know how the m90 turned out, hopefully it is good now, those guns are amazing nothing beats a smooth 556 ak. |

Boom! Tracking inbound, Zastava is just awesome, multiple emails, the customer service was just outstanding, I don’t like to be a speaker for a company but I just love this company. I am excited to get this rifle in! I will post up pics and how it shoots, I want to put 1k maybe 2 through it this weekend. My kids are all pumped also to help me burn some powered. I just love these guns I cannot wait to see it. Seriously though top notch on the the customer service Ben is a stud and I just love the back and forth emails. My family just really enjoys this company, I cannot wait to see our new Serbian lady when she arrives. My sons are already arguing who she belongs to… Looks like a jujitsu match against dad to decide who gets to pack her in the mountains this year is coming soon. Seriously though I hope the OP orders another rifle from them, honestly I am way to loyal of a person and once a company shows me they are this solid I am in for life. I can honestly say, Zastava, BCM, Aimpoint, Nightforce, and honestly Manticore arms have been just top notch bad asses. Love these companies, all have shown true colors and love for the American family. Alright gents! M70ab2 just came in yesterday! We went out today and ran just over 500rds through it, shot it side by side with my other m70ab2s, another Zastava build, and an old century arms build. We got all smoky, got hot, and she is just a great rifles so far, 500rd+ and no hiccups. I will post some pics and comparisons later but I am still buzzing off all the fun we had today! So far Zastava surplus m70AB2 builds look the part, they are rugged, and just so sexy haha I love this rifle, I will get you side by side pics, and how the interaction went with the company. Overall I have had so far an amazing experience, I really hope the OP can grab another rifle and shoot it and enjoy the grit of these beautiful surplus builds. Something about the m70ab2 just hits me different, great rifles…. Attached File |

Finally was able to get some rounds down the new M70AB2 this is the second one that I was able to work with Zastava and pick up from the post above. I have about 500rds down the barrel at this point and everything is shooting great. Here is some pics of the two rifles, I am vary happy with both. The customer service was just great for me and they said they put something extra in with the rifle. I was super pumped they sent a beautiful surplus mag holder with cleaning kit and some Yugo mags.. vary vary cool it made my weekend, overall I just love these builds, they have that surplus war smell, and just have the feel of rugged ak. Mia culpa I realize looking back at things that the issue that I have was really mostly me. I was unhappy that I had spent a lot of money, sometimes I can be unreasonable and not patient enough. My M90 was fixed and is spectacular It shot 300 rounds with not one single problem, every single round hitting the target that I aimed at. It was almost perfectly zeroed. It worked with just about every kind of magazine. I could throw at it. If there’s one that doesn’t work I haven’t found it yet. I took a chance and hoped that they would let me re-order another surplus under folder when they came back in stock earlier last week. To my surprise order went through, I wouldn’t blame them if they didn’t wanna ship me one I kind of deserve that. The order went through and it was shipped out on Monday. I got it today and it’s absolutely spectacular. And I say this, in every way, the parts kit is a 1993 and completely matching, the upper cover and the stock both have a beautiful aged patina with no corrosion whatsoever. The wood is spectacular and clearly surplus used, and just fits the overall look at the rifle perfectly the action is so smooth and actually makes my Mak90 jealous., I can pull the action back with one finger with no problem. It’s just so smooth. All I can say is that I’m overwhelmingly thrilled and I have to thank Zastava for putting up with my bullshit and then delivering on everything they said they would There is absolutely nothing I would change about this rifle. Nothing. |

| This is awesome your m90 is crushing it, that is the last one I have yet to purchase and I am crunching Pennies hard right now to hopefully get one be for it is to late. I have always wanted to make a dmr mk12 but ak style rifle with one of these. What rounds are shooting well through it? Anything specifically good |
