| Obviously there is the factory dust cover rail, and there are upgrades for that rail, but are there any other good ways to do it? |

The russians make a rear sight leaf replacement (as I'm sure others do as well). CSS has them listed but OOS at the moment. Link |

TWS and other newer hinged dust covers rely on the rear sight leaf assembly to secure the hinge, and the Vepr 12 does have a removable rear sight leaf, so its theoretically possible to swap to an attero. The hard part is clearance over the railed top cover itself since the Vepr 12 sight leaf is slightly recessed. I'm doubtful it will fit TBH I don't think Ultimak makes a Vepr 12 gas tube mount, but they do for other Vepr rifles. It may not be possible to modify one to fit the 12, particularly because the two clamp rings need to be larger for the V12 The AK Master Mount side plate may fit I have one on my Hungarian AKM and its been great but I haven't tried or tested it on a Vepr. My V12 below has a 100 series optic plate added because I like to use a variety of optics on it even though it has the excellent top cover  |

I had forgotten about the hinged dust cover, and just saw that unit listed by CSS for the V12. I just have the Saiga so I'll stick to those from now on
