I don't even have all the parts in yet and started work on my Alpha build and this SAM7K follows me home from the gun store on Saturday: Attached File It's a "used"/consignment gun and clearly has never been fired, and until I started working the safety there wasn't even a scratch on it. Literally $500 less than the brand new one right next to it in the case which made it a no-brainer. After getting the tax stamp (and no I'm not waiting until next year when they're $0...) my build will include the following bits and pieces: Arsenal SM-22 optic rail JMac Customs 6.1" handguard with railed gas tube cover JMac Customs folding 9" triangle stock w/CRSU riser BFG dual QD sling ALG trigger, recoil and braided trigger spring KNS gas piston Retainer plate Venom Defender XL, 3 MOA green dot ^ YES I'm going to have to cut/remove the handguard retainer to run the longer handguard and NO I don't give a shit; the extra length adds needed real estate and helps handling, etc. Should be pretty swanky...just pricey for a trash can gun but it's my money sooooo... I've had really good luck with micro dots on my "Krink". In for pics...again. ETA: if you have the option, press that FSB off and keep the HG retainer in 1 piece. Used to be you could find these parts a lot easier than you can nowadays. Of course, totally up to you. |

That was I was kind of thinking optics wise; on the M85 and M92 I had previously I ran a Vortex Venom and a Burris FastFire (IIRC) and they worked well, I'd run something a lil nicer/better quality than those on this however. I thought about doing that with the FSB and keeping the HG retainer intact/handy in case I ever need it again but I'm thinking I'll split the difference and buy a NOS one for the parts drawer so I won't feel as bad when I loop the one that's on there off. |

Hello fellow SAM7K enthusiast. They're a hoot. Since this video, I got a spare carrier from kvar and put a KNS on. The 5.56 and 7.62 guns use the same carrier. So my shorty KNS carrier can be swapped between my SAM7k and 106-UR. The long carrier gets swapped between the 106-CR and 107CR. I did a bit of whittling and got the gen1 rs regulate to be able to go on and off without interfering with the iron sight. For the gen2, I just replaced the screw and you can do the same. Good news as far as the stamp goes at least, I had EFT copies of my fingerprints from my FFL and was able to upload those successfully; came back approved in less than 15 hours…! Parts are getting ordered and will start coming in here soon, like my Alpha build I’m gonna update the thread with pictures and the all important before/after scale/weight pics… |
Love mine, really like it with the soup can even more. Prolly the first form one I’ll drop in January too. I have looked for two years for a hinge that will bolt thru the trunnion like the 1913 that comes with it does. Anybody got a suggestion?  Tagged to play along! I plan on doing a custom plywood furniture set for maximum krinkyness. I’ve saved some real Baltic plywood cores to glue up and shape for the stock hand guard and grip. |

Thanks, but that's not what Im looking for. The 1913 rail is bolted onto the rear trunnion thru a square hole roughly in the center of its face. Im looking for a hinge that bypasses the pic rail and will bolt directly thru that hole. I have some parts on my bench that I was contemplating modifying. But I thought Id look around again before I cut up and weld a few things. Frankly Im surprised nobody has one. I'll post some pictures tomorrow when I get back out in the shop. And yeah, lets get KRINKY!!!! |

It's the main thing that attracts me to it. |

There's some great companies out there making solid parts for AKs, just nowhere near the scope of AR for obvious reasons. The AK owner/demographic back in the day (ComBloc for that matter) was the ability to get into guns super cheap (compared to ARs at the time) with even cheaper ammo. MAN has that ship ever sailed and old, completely bullshit tropes about trash can guns continue to proliferate to this very day, the biggest one being accuracy which has been proven demonstrably false over and over...and over. Cue RobSki about the lack of AK "accuracy" (given he is an exceptionally skilled shooter, but if you believe the hype he wouldn't be capable of what he does if AKs were as trash as the naysayers state they are). OK...off THAT soapbox, back to Krinkiness!

I feel like I could cut that stub down to fit, but it’s a gamble at $150. |

I decided against my initial Barwarus muzzle device selection and outside of a PBS-01 suppressor, came to the realization there's only two options for a Krink muzzle device...and only ONE for a 7,62x39 Krink; the 4-piece flash hider: Attached File And YES, this muzzle device which used to be available for a somewhat reasonable sub-$100 just a few short years back is nearly unobtanium now and apparently only available from everyone's favorite Bulgarian AK inventory hoarding vendor who always manages to find a "missing case of milled SAMs (etc.)" every few years and charging an arguably near insane price...for a muzzle device; KVAR. $299...!  So of course I ordered it along with a 30-round Circle 10 magazine and the SM-22 optic mount. I also decided the optic that will go on it is a Vortex Defender XL with green 3 MOA dot and ordered it from Optics Planet, who swears it's on the way! I'm finishing up my JMac customs order for the stock/hinge and hand guard to get that on the way. I've decided to wait on the KNS piston and ALG trigger and assorted bits for now for no other reason that between this and my WASR Alpha build I spent a shit ton of money and can afford to wait on some fine tuning bits and pieces! |

I bought a PSA builders kit AK with the idea of building a Krinkish style gun. Other projects kind of got in the way. Very happy with the results, most of my shooting is at an indoor 25 yard range and this is a blast to shoot at that range. This is what I ended up with. Attached File |

That being said it's beyond obnoxious that Arsenel/KVAR is charging $299 for a dang muzzle device but when idiots like myself have no problem paying it...there's no incentive for them to reduce their price, so blame me for the ridiculous pricing!

Shorty 7.62x39 SBRs are addictive. This is by far my favorite AK variant I own: Attached File What's funny is, I wanted the 13" version, and my dealer couldn't get one and got this instead. I begrudgingly accepted it, and never looked back. Added a MI handguard, KNS piston, sling, Aimpoint and Surefire FH for the SOCOM suppressor. It eats anything I feed it, and produces a smile on my face every time I shoot it. KNS piston is a must on all Arsenals and Galil ACEs. If you ever send an Arsenal to Rifle Dynamics, they will fix the gas block by installing their adjustable version. Not sure what to tell you about the trigger. Geissele may be coming out with their two stage AK trigger this fall. On my SAM-5, RD installed the LBE trigger, and it's OK. I run the stock trigger on my Galil ACE, because it's actually a very good AK trigger. A custom fit ALG is still the best, but sometimes they don't like certain AK variants, even in the same brand. |

VERY nice ACE! ...and very much agreed about custom fitting the ALG triggers. I've used them in every AK build I've done so far and they are NOT drop-in ready for the most part. They include very specific instructions about how to fit them properly and it's a trial and error process but if you want the trigger AND safety to work properly (...rhetorical statement...?) then it's mandatory. I had a buddy with them on both his M85 and M92 and on a range trip I figured out that despite the safety selector being in the safe position it would still fire; he figured as long as the trigger fell/reset and the gun fired he was GTG. After shitting a chicken, we worked on both guns until they worked perfectly. It's also worth noting that the ALG triggers have a VERY light pull and inexperienced folks will often get double taps, particularly with 7,62 guns and their recoil.
