Mesa Tactical 4 shotshell holder (right side)

Still need another barrel, this one is rifled for slugs, Can't make up my mind yet, 14" or 18", what a dilemma. Kick ass short barrel, or serious business longer barrel with mag tube extension for more blasting power.

What will the new barrel be used for? I'd say go with an 18" smooth bore, and mag extension. You could even add the new XS pic rail and low profile XS ghost ring to work with the beed on the 18incher like the newest 870 tactical (81198). If you put the rifled barrel back on, the ghost ring comes off seperate from the rail, and you could scope it.

Before and after completion. Almost complete any way.

The 1st pic is so weird looking I can hardly stand it. The only modifacation is the the stock set switched out from a stock 870 Express Magnum with wood to ATI stuff.

The 2nd pic is from today, I refinished yesterday with O.D. green Cerakote.

Rem 870 express. Mesa Tactical stock, spare Trijicon Reflex II laying around, 6P with LED conversion, Tac Star side saddle 4x, high vis follower, rails on forestock installed by me. Soon to be an sbs sometime after the first of the year.
I think this is what a fighting tactical shotgun should look like. I love this thing. It just feels bad assed in my hands. This will be my duty shotgun. No more rattle trap 870's and beat to hell 500's from the arms room. I'd like to do a sister 11-87 just like it down the road.
Updated with new pics.

I used the stock foregrip and added a Tango Down tapeswitch cover for rails. I think it works well and I have minimal wire exposure (no curly wire pigtails) to catch on things. I like it. Cost me less than a Surefire rail at $135. I like it a lot.

Here's how my 870 Express Magnum has ended up.  Went through a few iterations, but this I like the best.  Simple and reliable.  All I really want for it is a front sling adapter.

Well here are a few of mine around the house:

What I call the 3 little bears, the top one is the latest addition here for my son when he's old enough. It's a 20 gauge Remington 870 Express synthetic with the factory magazine extension.  I still have to add a shorter stock, Scattergun Technologies track-lok II tritium sights and big head safety but I have time to work on that since he's only 4.  The next one is the wife's 870 Sportsman in 12 gauge.  This one sports the MMC tritium sights and I think it's a Tristar magazine extension.  I'm thinking of swapping out the current magazine extension with a factory unit but finding one in blue isn't easy or cheap.  The one on the bottom is my stock Mossberg 590 I bought before my last deployment.  I still have to replace the safety with a metal version but the plastic one hasn't been an issue yet.  I also want to add a set of MMC tritium sights on this one as well.

Another picture of my Mossbergs but this time in addition to my 590, I also have my old 500 in this picture.  Odd thing is that this one has a set of screw in chokes to it that the previous owner had installed.

My "Terminator II gun" here with another 870 with the factory folding stock and magazine extension.  A lot of folks claim that the stock isn't comfortable to use but I never had a problem with it.

One of my favorites is my Ithaca M37.  Light, fast and reliable are the great features I love about this one.  If you think the 870 is the smoothest shotgun made, you have got to try an Ithaca like this to make you rethink that position.  I think the only thing I don't care for about the Ithaca is that in order to remove the bolt, you have to remove the buttstock first.  Not a very good weapon in regards to easy disassembly.

Another his and hers set of shotguns in the form of a couple Norinco 1897 shotguns.  Hers is the riot version she used for SASS shoots while mine is the trench gun version.  We put a lot of shells through these guns with her SASS shoots and mine for blasting blackbirds out of the sky.  Never had any problems other than the heat shield on mine would walk under recoil but a little rosin on the barrel ended that problem.

FIX BAYONETS!!!!!

I have an 18" barrel and a 2 shot extension on my Christmas list, so we'll see what I get. :)

If you use one of Dinzag's 74 brakes and bayonet lug, you can mount an M9 on it.

Zul, I like that 870. She's definitely got character. There's nothing like a good, cheap project gun to waste time and money on. Of course, it'll work perfectly fine like it is, but I know I'd just have to fiddle with it. I'll get some pics of my project 870 up when the new barrel gets here.

Nice sg. I was looking to add some iron sites like you have on my 870. I was wondering if they would clear the mesa rail. It looks like that might be what you have on there? I have a mesa rail but might have a rail mounted on the reciever if it will bring the rail down a bit more for better eye height. But I definitely want to add those sites on the shotgun. I believe trijicon makes a set of sites like those that are a bit cheaper than the scattergun irons.
