I am recently relocated to western NC (Rutherford County). Does anyone have recommendations for reputable intermediate level carbine/ handgun defensive training? I am wiling to travel a couple hours in any direction. Haven't had much luck with internet searches. Thanks.

Defensive Concepts is GTG, they just need to have more classes in this part of the state

You really just have to keep your ear to the ground in this area. I took a Kyle Defoor class last year in Bostic and then Pat Mcnamara hosted a rifle class a month latter at the same range.

I know of a few long range rifle classes and matches, but they are more in the eastern part of the state.

There are some good 3 gun matches that myself and some other ARFcom members shoot at every month. COG 3 Gun is the best one IMO, but its about a 1 1/2 drive from Hendersonville. Let me know if you are interested and I will give you the details and you can shoot with us.

If you are into IDPA there is a great match in Spartanburg SC that is worth the drive, There is also a IPSC match that should be very close to you.

I am always up for some quality training if you find something I have missed shoot me a PM and keep me in the loop.

http://www.walnutgrove3gun.webs.com/ Good group of guys run this match, I dont normally shoot it though. Should be pretty close to your area. This is the range that normally host training classes.

http://www.cog3gun.com/ its a bit of a drive, but well worth it. We shoot here every month.

http://www.shootspsa.org/ i have only shot the IDPA match, but it was very well run. They do something every weekend.
