Completed my first Appleseed Project shoot.  I really thought I knew how to shoot a rifle until I tried the target without their training.  This 2 day course taught safety, the six steps to making the shot, NPOA, three shooting positions, and how to use the sling in each position.

The instructors, I think there were 8 or so for 45 shooters, gave everyone personal time to learn the points.  Their intent is to teach a person with a service rifle to hit a man sized target at 500 yards using the 25M Army Qualification Targets (AQT).  I hear a lot about close quarter encounters.  This teaches you how not to get in that situation.

I shot about 170 rounds of 22lr the first day and qualified as rifleman with a 218 out 0f 250.  The next day I used my AR and shot a 233.

A little Revolutionary War history is taught during the weekend.  Overall it's the best $70 I've spent for any kind of training.

I highly recommend everyone to try it.  Just google Appleseed project.

Neat.  Thanks for the review.

What rifle did you use for Day 1?  Or did you just use a .22 conversion for your AR?

I used a Remington 597, bull barrel with a BSA Sweet 22 Scope for the first day.  I considered a conversion, but couldn't get it to group very well.

You need a 4MOA rifle.  There were 10-22's and marlin glenfield everywhere.
