I have a 150 property that a brook/stream originates on, it literally comes up from the ground. It is classified as conducive to trout spawning. The waterway eventually flows into the the east branch of the Delaware River. There is a pond on it now and every topo map dating back fifty plus years shows this pond, about 1/2 acre. Sat photos through the years also always shows this pond but sometimes several others that are very small. Now the pond is worked by beavers but given the pond has been there for decades and beavers are not, it would seem that it is an existing natural pond.
I am interested in expanding the pond but it would stay under 10 acres. It would be dugout pond so as to avoid the engineering required to install a dam.
Anyone have any experience doing this with this trout classification? Is it the nightmare it seems to be?
