The Great Lakes border on British Columbia?

It reads like they just copied it from a poor translation of a non-english language article.

Well in today's World of auto-check/correct/punctuation, combined with a lack of knowledge or understanding of the subject, is it any wonder so many "Journalistic"  stories come off as a fudged High School term paper?  Editors for the most part aren't much if any better.  
Even worse are a good many News Releases from Government Agencies that purport themselves as experts or authorities on the subject matter, when it's clear some intern wrote it and was blessed off by a Supervisor who when challenged will claim plausible deniability.
