Any good Moonshine distilleries on the island or in the city ?
I think I remember reading about a distillery in manhattan but forgot the name and don't know if they were any good :-/
Wish I could try some of Tim's moonshine from that moonshiners show

its hard cider that has been left outside to freeze, the alcohol will  to go to the center of the slushy stuff, and you take that and drink it. i did it once and out of a 5 gallon bucket of hard cider i got about 1/2 gallon of apple jack. i have never heard of anyone selling it, even the so called hard cider they sell, is not real hard cider,

I shoot photos for my doctor who started Tirado distillery in the Bronx. He has tastings all around town and at the distillery. It can also be found in local bars and stores. http://www.tiradorum.com/Home.html

Yorkers made plenty of illicit moonshine (kinda redundant terminology I guess).  For a while it was pretty prevalent, it just didn't have the notoriety of the trade in the south. The last person I know of who made locally it died in the '60s or '70s.  A bunch of legal distilleries have sprung up in the last 4-5 years or so.

Lairds is kinda meh.  You might like it though- it is worth a try.  It isn't made by freeze distillation though like in the old days.

There is a place in Schoharie county making a sort of legal moonshine:

Good luck getting it up there.

But the "The Hook" shine.

Has a hint of Waffle House waffle taste.

Very deadly
