During my break today I went online  to visit my various websites of interest.
It appears that my employer's IT department has decided that AR15.com is an inappropriate site and has block access to it.
They are treating it as if it were a porn site or some other form of degradation.
Needless to say I am upset by this knee jerk reaction. I'm not looking forward to see what else they will be banning.
Just had to vent my frustration, no one at work would understand like the folks here

Anything even remotely associated to firearms is blocked on my work computer.
I just surf on my smartphone while on break.

You can try using a TOR browser. Look for a website called "the TOR project" the bundle will give you the TOR application and Firefox portable.  These programs run in memory so they do not need to be installed.  I know Barracudda internet filter and firewalls are top notch but yet the TOR application sneaks right by.  Iran spent, I believe, around 5 months figuring a way to block it and within 24 hours TOR updated and was reopened.  China is now working on blocking it but is having difficulties as well. Your IT department will never see it coming unless he has your computer completely locked down to were you are unable to move the program to your computer. It also runs encrypted so your IT department will not know what your looking at.

Just make sure your not going to violate company policy using this program and get your self fired.

TOR will also allow you into the Dark Web, I would advise to not go there.

Yep.

I posted a direct link one time before and someone freaked out, as if I had just posted their personal bank info.  Can't remember who it was (not a Mod/Staff or anything).  Then I realized that they link to it was in Team, so maybe the link isn't supposed to posted publicly.  So I'll just post a link to the link in Team.  "Covert ARFCOM Domain", it says.

OP, look toward the top of the page in Team:  http://www.ar15.com/forums/f_1/75_Team_AR15_Com.html

Yea job related stuff can help in 2 ways. Gain access to ARFCOM or scare the company into thinking you're looking for a new job and grant you IT rights back. Ask me how I know.

Whew! I thought they blocked it because I was on the site too much during the day, and I work in the industry...

Same thing happened to me yesterday, went to check the NYHTF and blamo, restricted access even though I could access tons of other gun related sites.

Guess I'll have the IT guys fix it next week.
