They are all over the place by me (shoreham) Last year before heading upstate for a little turkey hunting I had 13 in my back yard, this of course ment I didnt see a single bird all weekend while hunting

Yeah, everyone once in awhile I'll see turkey in Bethpage state park, but for the most part I see Guinea Fowl and Pheasant/Quail. The dump in Old Bethpage has a large population of Guinea Fowl. The guys that work up there just refer to them as garbage birds..lol

Yes, they are around. I have seen them in Brookville/Old Brookville in addition to Pheasants. There was a dead one at the side of Wolver Hollow Road a year ago that was very impressive to look at despite being road kill.

I've seen them in Ridge, Setauket, Stony Brook and one in Centereach (as someone ran it over)
 .

drove past a flock of over 2 dozen in field on Stephens Hands Path out in Easthampton a couple days ago.

I'm in Ridge..they come in my yard by the dozen every couple days , there's a couple pheasant around as well.

We found one in downtown Syracuse at 2am. I think it had flown into a window on a building and was dead or stunned. We were going to ––-er–––– "help" it when the police came around the corner so we decided to call it a night. By the time we left the area there were three police cars surrounding the turkey.

See them all the time in Wading River. Along the top of the Wm Floyd, along 25A and in the neighborhoods. They did a release around Brookhaven Labs several years back to reintroduce them back into the wild. Give it a decade or so, I'm sure you'll be hunting them soon.

I emailed the guy who is in charge of LI from the national turkey federation he also informed me that turkey on LI is nothing new and that his organization has been lobbying the dec for a hunting season for the last 6 years with no luck

i see turkeys alot over the summers when i am out east Jamesport to be exact. The dec sent me info if i would be interested in a long island turkey season.
I spend my summers out there and there is a hunting preserve thats mostly where i have seen them. |

He'll sidle up to you then throw the wings out and start with the jumping, pecking and claws. He knocked down my 4 your old and 3 year old daughters on two separate occasions. We got it in 2005. It's a heritage breed Kentucky Red. A jenny actually showed up last spring looking for some lovin'. He obliged but she never came back.

They are everywhere, even in NYC!
My company pays a vendor to remove them from some of our Sub Stations on Staten Island when they get out of hand! |
