Could some one provide me with the up to date information on their rifle range?
Everywhere I read that it is 240y, but someone told me that it is 500y, wondering which is true. Thank you. |
240 yds from the tables to the earthen berm sounds about right.
But be aware: there is a general boycott among NY/NJ arfcommers due to the fudd management at range 14. When the Federal police are called by the tower personnel on a law-abiding shooter, and the range rules are modified to specifically villify that shooter and others with similar jersey-legal weapons, it's time to shoot elsewhere. |
Ive been shooting there for years, never had a problem with any of my weapons. Ive had dirty looks by other shooters but never by range personel. They are usually friendly with me
ETA: nevermind, browser refresh ftw
Huh? I haven't heard this story. Please elaborate. Range 14 is the only place I go currently. |
What happened back in 2006 is enough for most of us to continue the boycott, sure some of you are going there without difficulty now, lets hope it stays that way. I'd rather belong to a club where the TRUST is mutual.
Mind you, this incident happened only a few weeks after an Arfcom blast at this range. There where several 1919's on the line at this shoot, as well as AR type rifles, AK type rifles, FAL type rifles, and HK91 type rifles (all NJ legal). The range managment said nothing when there was a group of us, but they called the cops on one guy. They knew the guns where legal, they just don't want them at thier range.
Yes indeed. |
I was there today. No problems with anyone. There were several guys with AR-15s and one with an AK. When we first showed up, we were the only guys there with evil weaponry. Nobody said anything. Maybe they have different guys there now.
I'm not a member of R14, and haven't been there since the last Blast we held there, but isn't there now a posted rule about non-shoulder fired long arms being prohibited?
I haven't seen it. |
If it has somehow changed, then maybe we can re-establish a relationship with Range 14, and continue to have the NJ Blasts there. I havent been back since the incident, but if they promise not to be douche bags with us, maybe we can return.
I have been there numerous times and nobody has said a word about AR-15s and AK-47s. I have seen many other guys there with EBRs too. I have a feeling the management talked to the tower guy and he stopped.
We can try it. I would love to see some Arfcommers there. Ft. Dix is the only range that I can get to for rifle shooting. |
I might be up for a return trip. Only place I can go that will allow guest (3 per member).
Sounds good to me.
It would be great to get fellow Arfers together again. Maybe some of the N.Y.er's could come on down this time. Just as long as we don't get greeted by the powers that be for a compliance check. That would put a damper on a great day. I'll bring a cooler full of cold drinks. EL |
Yeah, but I'm glad it went this way. Ft. Dix is 240 yards max. I really like the place. |
In order to do a Blast there, don't we need enough members to cover the non-members attending as guests?
Who among us still has a current membership? If Fishpaw is willing to give them another chance, I am also. If Iggyort's plan to do a post-Halloween Blast at Old Bridge doesn't pan out, maybe we can go back to Range 14 and make a pumpkin-flesh mess on their lawn. I've got a crapload of campaign signs from the past few elections to use as targets/target holders. It's easier than using a post hole digger! |
Although, since I can't drive, my dad will have to come. Is that okay? Before I forget A few pics from yesterday |
I don't mind renewing my expired membership. I've got a crapload too of the campaign signs. |
I have a current membership. I have never had any problems there and I shoot my AR there every weekend.
Well, now they have the ATF letter telling them that it's legal. If you want to bring the 1919, just carry a copy of it with you. I also have not seen any signs prohibiting non shoulder weapons. I don't know if anyone else has. And yes the membership is $60 for a year. |
I think you just show up and ask to join. That's what we did. |
To be honest that 1919 is a pretty serious looking gun. However, I agree that they should have checked to see if it was NJ compliant before calling the cops. I think membership is $65, just show up and say you wanna join. I don't like that you have to pay an hourly rate everytime you shoot. I would rather pay like $150 for a place per year and use it unlimited. There big rule is NO rapid fire. I think that is what they were worried about with the 1919.
Well, El, then do something about it. Let's see you exercise those organizational skills. You can do this! |
Today I heard Range 14 has a FFL and they'll transfer firearms. I was shocked. I'll have to ask them how much when I'm there this coming week.
Fortunately for me my brother, early in life I found my position in the chain of command. Great follower, crummy leader.I'd probably need a GPS to get to FT.Dix I thought that was your job any way |

I'm at somewhat of a disadvantage. Not a member at Range 14, with no connections whatsoever there. First, we need to find out if they're still axxhats about Fishpaw's 1919 and if they're okay with us holding a Blast there after so long being away. WHO CO-ORDINATED THE PREVIOUS BLASTS THERE?? And we're going to need enough members to guest the rest of us in. Speak up guys! Let's give Blackguppy a hand getting his Blast off the ground. |

Speak up guys! Let's give Blackguppy a hand getting his Blast off the ground. I gotta learn to keep my trap shut |
yeah i used to go there too
old man in the tower always gave me hell he counted how rounds were in my mag then gave me crap about shooting the barrett and now 50bmg isnt allowed i havent shot my last 50bmg round since nor have i returned i need a 50 bmg friendly range on a scary note i did find a 50 bmg on the range a tracer round that was probably a misfire or ricochet i dont want to be shooting and get hit by an errant round i did report it as i found it in a crater but they didnt care and they said you cant shoot 50bmg here anyway duh its a military base |
Not sure where in the PRNJ you are, but South Jersey Shooting Club in Winslow Twp (Camden County) is as 50cal friendly as you're going to find on this side of our gulag. With a rarely used 300 yard range, you can shoot your Barrett to your heart (and wallet's) delight. I'm there most every weekend. IM me if you want to come down for a guest-in. |

That Arfcommer is still MIA |
Hey Bobby, how the heck are ya, btw, anyone hear from Rob? |
Just a thought, but why don't we leave the heavy's out of this get together until we can recon the situation.
btw, for the ones that been to the blasts there, remember the bowlling pins? |
+1 Let's go in light the first time Second will bring the heavy Stuff !! Thoughts ?? Comments !!! Operation - Ft. Dix Reforger (Return of Forces to Range ) Iggyort |

A current member or members should contact the chief RO or club President and set-up a meeting to work things out in advance. Clear written instructions should be given to the range personnel so future problems can be avoided. I wish I had a facility like Ft. Dix Range 14 near where I live.

Hello Friend No I have not heard from him in over a year, I lost his biz card and have no way of contacting him except through DWFAN. I miss the old days |

Kind of funny they don't allow us to shoot 50s there but the, the Army usually sets the place on fire once a year. |
misfire = live round ricochet = bullet sometimes pristine (see famous JFK "mystery" bullet) OR deformed breaking your balls jonas. |
