Thanks to all who called and or wrote to their County Legislators on this issue.

The Westchester Co. Legislative Committee voted this morning 7-0 to formally withdraw County Executive Andy Spano’s proposal for renewable pistol licenses and making the police dept. the issuing agent. Thanks to WCFOA and everybody who got involved and made their opinions known.
Here is a copy of the letter Deputy County Executive Larry Schwartz send to Legislator Vito Pinto requesting the proposal be removed from Spano’s 2007 State Legislative Program.
However, I must stress the issue isn’t dead. It’s come up before and will likely rear it’s ugly head again sometime in the future until we can get a decent shot at Spano at the ballot box.
Also, look for much whining from the Journal News over the next few days at having lost this battle. All their lies and slander of gun owners over the past several months wasn’t enough to move the issue through the county legislature.
