Anyone here have more than a NY Pistol License?  Are there any benefits to doing such a thing?  I don't travel out of state but if there are any ways to increase my ability to carry here (have a typical restricted NY License) it would be good to know.

NYS does not recognize any out of state license. Packing.org would be the resource to check for carry permit info. If you do not travel out of state, there is no reason to get another state's license.

I got a PA permit because I have family there, I used to live there too.  PA permit was cheap and easy to get if you have a NY permit and the PA permit is accepted in about a dozen states.

I know several folks who winter in Florida and have CCW's issued in Florida.
The only licenses New York will honor are drivers licenses, grudgeingly at that. (NY can suspend the privledge of driving on its roads, even with an out of state licenses).
Sorry, but if your Licenses doesn't say "State of New York" on the top, you're SOL.

I used to have a Mass non-res, a PA non-res, and CT. I've let all but the CT lapse, and when thats up in 2007 that'll be let go as well. Mass went from $10/ yr to 100/yr. Too rich for my blood. PAs was a good deal though.

If you get your CT, FL and NH CCW you're pretty much set for almost every CCW state that honors non-resident issued licenses. FL is a little pricey but CT and NH are cheap.

It doesn't buy you anything in NY but you never know when you might have to bug out.

GoTo  Packing.org.   Some states honor Non Resident permits.  There is a chart on the site that lists the details for all states.

maddog, it depends on the state and that is the reason you need to have other licenses in addition to FL. Packing.org appears to be down but in order to CCW in CT and NH you need to have the individual states non-resident license. The state of MI will accept your NY license with the same restrictions that NY has placed on it. I think the total cost for the CT, FL and NH licenses is around $170.

is independent of my state of residence . I was living just over the
border in CT when I swapped it from my NY resident permit .

In the vast majority of cases,it is true. You are one of the exceptions. The average person moving from the state must surrender their permit.
