What can you permanently affix to a barrel in NY legally? Can you put a suppressor or flash hider. I know that ailencers are out of the question, obviously. I have a naked end on my barrel and I wonder what my options are.

Moronic NY laws.

But if I replace the pistol grip with a PC stock it makes flash suppressors function differently and OK.

If you are going to attach a brake I would make sure it was approved by the ATF as a "postban compliant" brake. Is the Troy brake ATF approved? If it is covering a threaded barrel it must be welded or silver soldered on otherwise a brake can be pinned on.

ETA: I thought there was more then one model a Troy brake. The only one I could find is a flash suppressor and would be illegal to install it on a postban rifle.

Bushmaster has ATF approved brakes.

Troy make a couple different models and one is NY compliant it is clasified by the ATF as a compensator and does not hide flash. I have a rifle with one on it and looks good. They should be available soon.
