Alright, LET'S GET IT ON!
Here we go folks - NUMBER 10! Looking forward to seeing everyone again! We'll be shooting during the day and camping the night away at Buckeye Gun Club! (complete with newly installed SATELLITE TV!) I know, I know, what kind of camping is that? Just saying its there if we want it! I'd like to extend a special invitation to all the new members that have not ever joined us before. These shoots are a lot of fun and this really is a superbly wonderful group of people! I guarantee you will be glad you came, we are all normal folk just like you! We've seen some new faces at several of the last shoots and I truly hope it continues! I also want to say that I am totally psyched about being able to use Buckeye for the camping. I want to extend a big thanks to Ray Woodrow for helping me out on that end! Plan is to shoot all day at Ft Dix. We can stay all the way until closing (4:30) but I think the campers will need to pack up by 3 so we have time to go eat and then get to the campsite before it gets too late. In the event of rain - DO NOT FEAR! Buckeye has a bunk room so we can all sleep inside! So, since none of us are afraid of getting our ARs wet, this is a rain or shine event! (well. within reason...) Important note - there will be NO SHOOTING at the campsite on Saturday night. There will be no handling of firearms at all on Saturday night. (A negligent discharge is simply NOT an option, so I hope you understand) However, you may do some shooting after 10 am on Sunday, thanks to Ray! For those that will be camping, we will caravan from the range to a restaurant for dinner(TBD, will post later) and then on to the camp site. (won't be anything facny or expensive, just some place decent and reasonably priced) As always, there will be a door prize drawing for everyone who comes. We will also do a 50/50 for anyone who wants to participate. (all money goes to buy door prizes for the next shoot, as usual) Also, for those that join us for camping, all money is going to Buckeye and the good things that Ray and Co. do so this is a great way to have some fun and give our money to a good cause! Lastly, there will be a special door prize drawing Saturday night around the campfire! So... Get yer asses into a tent and join us! We had 10 campers the last time, I hope we get more this time! The details: When: Saturday 12/11, 9:00 am until whenever Where: Ft Dix Range 14, Camping at Buckeye Gun Club What: Fun, Guns and Friends! Cost: $3/hour for shooting, $10/person for camping I will post directions below. Here are links to a few threads and pics from previous shoots: Thread from BLAST IX Thread from BLAST VIII A few BLST VIII pics BLAST VII Pics BLAST VI Pics (SNOWBALL SHOOT!) |

Directions to the range from the Turnpike. If you need directions from somewhere else, post here and someone will definitely provide.
I know they are long but, I was very descriptive with them. The whole trip is really very simple. •Take NJ Turnpike to Exit 7 •After paying toll, take Rt. 206 South •After a short distance, make a LEFT onto Rt. 68. This is a very well marked intersection with signs for Fort Dix. Also, you can only turn left or go straight at this light, there is no right turn. Rt. 68 is larger highway divided in the middle by a grass median. •After several miles, you will turn LEFT onto Rt. 537/Monmouth Rd. If you go too far, you will run into the entrance to Ft Dix and the MPs will tell you so. Just turn around and go back a couple of roads. •After a couple of miles, you will come to an intersection with a WAWA on the far left corner, a diner on the far right corner, a motel on the near left and a gas station on the near right. The WAWA is a good landmark and the last/best place to stop for supplies before getting to the range… Continue straight through the light and on 537. •A couple of miles past the WAWA you will go through a traffic light. Soon after that you will pass a farm market on your left (with the farm on both sides of the road) and then come to a flashing yellow light. Turn RIGHT at the flashing light onto Jacobstown Cookstown Rd. Note – one of the signs on the corner only says Jacobstown Rd but, that’s the one you want. Just look for the flashing yellow light; that is the best landmark. •Follow this road to the end, it is a couple of miles. When you get to the end/stop sign, turn RIGHT onto the little main street of Cookstown. I do not believe there are any street signs here. •Once you go through town you will pass a farm field and then cross over onto the military reservation. (Ft Dix) There is one little white sign that you might miss but, as soon as the field ends and the woods begin, you are on base. Continue straight, this is now Range Rd. You will pass some Bivouac sites on the right and a range or two on the left and the ‘urban’ range on the right. Look for ‘Messina Range’ on your left and the urban/MOUT looking range on your right (they are directly across from each other). These are good landmarks and Range 14 is the next left up the road. You will see a small brown sign on the left that says ‘Ft Dix Rod & Gun Club – Range 14’. Turn LEFT here. •Go down the short road and cross the tank trail and go through the gate. (you will see the red ‘range hot’ flag flying) Go straight down the long ‘driveway’. You will pass the skeet/trap range on your left, the small archery courses on your right and will eventually come to the rifle range. (You have to turn left) •We generally have two or three tables all the way down on the right side of the firing line. (These would be the first two you will see when you pull in) Look for a BRIGHT YELLOW F-150 parked on the line. You can pull right up to the line to unload. Directions from Ft Dix/Range 14 to Buckeye Gun Club. Even though we will caravan, I'll post the directions just in case. •Turn left out of the range driveway. •Travel for roughly 2-2.5 miles until you come to Rt 530/Lakehurst Rd. Turn left onto Lakehurst/530. •Follow Lakehurst/530 for roughly 5 miles until it merges with Rt 70, turn left onto 70 (heading east). •Follow 70 East for roughly 5 miles until you reach Rt 539. Turn right onto 539 south. •Follow 539 South roughly 10 miles to Rt 72. Turn left onto 72 east. •The gun club is a short distance down on the right side. It is a dirt road driveway that is almost hidden in the trees. A good trick is to count 11 telephone poles from the light and the driveway will be right around there. |

This will be a sign up list for a few things for the camp out.
If you think you are going to camp out, PLEASE POST so I can keep a list of people. Its not a commitment of any kind, just want to A) Get an idea for numbers and B) Possibly motivate others to come camp when they see who all is camping!

Quote: "wheres is buckeye?" I would tell you.......... but then I would have to kill you............ Go to: http://mywebpages.comcast.net/fsimila/GUNCLUB/index_frame.htm and you will get to see what the building looks like. We just held an NJCSD "Mischief Day Shoot" there this past weekend......Where were you!?!?! The Buckeye Gun Club is located at 501 Rt.72E. Turn right up the "hidden driveway" at mile marker 14/5. It is 16 telephone poles on the right side from the intersection of Rt. 539 and Rt. 72E. On the 16th telephone pole is "501" in black numbers on a white background mounted vertically with 2 reflectors below it. How is that for directions!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! RW3 |

555R,

Unfortunately I can't make it on 12/11. Family obligations take up the entire day.

hey who said they had a glock 23 hi cap mag for me?
I forgot and I did want it just let me know how much if there are more I am interested one can never have enough mags I am considering the camping if I can find my tent which is more or less a house it fits 8 i think |
anyone bringing shotguns
Ive been slaving on an 870 or 590 pump and it will be made tactical as everyone knows I like toys and the 308 rifle decision is near impossible for me to figure out so hopefully i can shoot some others all are welcome to use my toys as usual thats what makes these blasts so awesome a variety of great people and their toys heheheheh(sinister laugh) |
+1 for the shooting, but will not be camping. 555R would you like to try my Benelli M1 (18 inch, standard stock, semi)? if so I will be happy to bring it.
I have the mags. I can't make the shoot. E-mail or IM me your address and I'll send them. No cost to you. Mike |
sure Ill try the benelli
any specific ammo i should bring for it? |
Don't worry about it, I will bring a variety of ammo as I am still testing it. I bought it recently and only have a few hundred rounds through it and am still trying to see what it likes/doesn't like (so far it seems to like everything except one failure to cycle on Federal reduced recoil 8 pelet 00 buck which I think may have been a break in issue). |
Im bringing my new (to me) parkerized Ithaca 37 featherweight that is surplus from the Buffalo NY Police dept, 18 inch barrel , 12 guage. Bring any kind of 12 guage ammo except slugs. Also want to try out/sight in my new AR build and a yugo SKS.
I'm new to the site and unfortunately I don't have an AR, but I do have a Nagant and a Mossberg 835 Ican bring along if thats allright. I live about 40 minutes from Dix and I am joining the gun club this week so getting there shouldn't be a problem. I hope I'm not intruding on anything being so new and all. Just let me know if this is a problem.
NJ, Welcome to the Board. Come up and join us. Bring what you have thats NJ legal. There's plenty of extra ARs to handle at our BLASTS, so that area is not a problem. |

JoelK
I did find out about some semi shotguns not liking reduced recoil loads I wont get any of those for that day I prob will get some slug ammo and buckshot in full power loads so as not to upset anyones shotguns maybe FMJUNKIE will bring the crazy turkey gun for all of us to enjoy |
Guys, I have used Reduced recoil loads ( both buckshot and rifled slug from remington) in my Rem 870P shotty without a problem. Remington has since changed the name from" reduced recoil" to Managed Recoil loads. I have also used Federals reduced recoil, also without any problems. If for any reason anybody does not want their reduced loads anymore, maybe we can swap ammo. I have about 500 rounds of Wolf Poly 115 gr. 9mm pistol ammo to unload because my Baby Eagle does not cycle well with this stuff.
Guys,
I just "mass mailed" all NJCSD members about your shoot in the "Self-Defense Tactics, Tools & Training" section of www.njcsd.org. I told them to direct ALLL questions to this link. RW3 |

Welcome! You are absolutely welcome to come out and join us! You can bring anything you want to shoot and you will find that everyone is extremely generous when sharing their firearms. I personally will have quite a few with me and you are welcome to shoot them all... Again, welcome to the site! Rob |

Roger, Roger! |

BTH
the reduced recoil was not cycling in semiauto shotguns maybe I didnt say that there i go again thinking alower than I type i also have a suggestion since everyone is not too sure about names maybe we should nametag ourselves so all the newer recruits can learn who we really are I thought about this before but never mentioned it i still dont know everyone by heart only the few who have been to almost all the blasts |
FWIW - I have personally seen a Benelli cycle 1.5 oz target loads so there ain't much they won't feed as long as they are cleaned/lubed. |
OH My Bad. Thought they were talking ' bout misfires. Get a PUMP SHOTTY. |
My M1 has been good with the reduced recoil and birdshot in general, except for one faulure to fully cycle with a Federal 8 pelet 00 buck within the first 50 rounds. I will be bringing a variety (much low recoil) to determine if it was the load or just a breakin issue And Bobby, as far as pumps go, I have one too, but semis are just so much more fun to me (most likely why I like ARs and not bolt guns!)
+1 on nametags |
I HEAR YA ! I like to get my hands on a Rem 11-87. |
An Idea on name tags, print out a pic of your avatar ( if you have one) with real first name and screen name and laminate it. or perhaps a pic of the AR15.com logo with your name.
Welcome aboard !!! I didn't (and still don't) have a complete AR yet. I went to my first Blast back in March and I'm sure you will find as I did, that the folks who attend these shoots are some of the best people that you will find anywhere. So bring what you have, you can shoot my stuff too. |
You guys all seem so nice, does anyone here shoot at Ft. Dix regularly? I am going to join up on Wednesday. Also where are some of you located at in NJ? I am in Lacey-exit 74 on the parkway.
I live in Beverly, N.J.
(about 4 blocks from the Delaware river and 5 minutes from the Burlington Bristol Bridge). I shoot down at the Buckeye Gun Club in Barnegat which is a hunting club that gives its members access to a private range. RW3 |
I guess she does not want to shoot the BAR huh I should be there to shoot I may be a little but I will be there. I do not know if I can camp as my new job has me working from 10pm-6am. |
