You can accept the upper, but immediately reship it upon receipt. Failure to do so is illegal, since ownership of a lower and that upper is considered constructive possession of a SBR by the Feds.

You have additional worries with NJ law beyond the fed SBR stuff. Grant is top notch to deal with, you should try and deal with him if you really want the product.
I know grant sells the LMTs with phantoms installed, is this what you are buying? (i.e., its not SBR, its 16.1" with flash suppressor installed?) If so, here is what I recommend: Have it shipped to the smith that you want to attach the brake. Keep in mind that not all FFLs can legally receive and posess class III weapons, only those properly licensed. (which most NJ FFLs are NOT) The gun smith can then remove the FS and weld a brake on for you. Here's the kicker - you need to find a good smith to do it. (BEWARE THE HACKMASTERS OUT THERE WITH NO AR-15 EXPERIENCE!!!) In the end, unfortunately, it may be easier to just buy a NJ ban compliant upper from somebody else. Though, I really wish Grant could get the business...

FM, Grant mentioned he could ship it with the phantom installed, and then I could deal with the brake myself. He happens to have everything I want in stock. but I can't order till I get this figured out.
Does anybody have any experience with Kurts Kustom Firearms? It seems like I could ship it directly to him from Grant, and then have him ship it to me after he installs the brake. He seems like someone very familiar with the AR. Or I could accept it and then ship it out myself. Can't Paul(PK90) accept Class III stuff? |

Grant can drop ship it to ADCO firearms in Ohio. I highly recommend them, they do great work.

Amen, this was what I did when I purchased a 14.5 inch upper and flash hider... selller shipped it to Adco, they installed it and shipped to me and the work was beautiful and dirt cheap at I believe $36 for the install and repark. |

Make sure there is not bayonet lug on the upper also. |
