Does anyone have any information on Gov. McGreevey's so-called Executive Order thay he initiated regarding New Jersey's "Semi-Automatic Assault Weapons"?

There has been no mention of it on either the "State of New Jersey" website or the "Office of Attorney General" website.

I remember 6 months ago that there was to be a 120 day study by Peter Harvey regarding law enforcement officers possessing assault firearms.  This also has vanished.  My contact in the AG's office says it is not yet completed.

Do they just make this shit up as they go along?  Where's the accountability?

Where's the accountability?

Peter Harvey and accountable in the same sentence? Are you serious? Harvey is, IMO, the most corrupt AG in NJ history. Bar none.

We'll talk on Saturday.

I always suspected you Joisey guys were either drug dealers, gun-runners or violent criminals.

"WHEREAS, assault weapons like Uzis and AK-47s have no legitimate civilian uses and, instead, are used by drug dealers, gun-runners, and other violent criminals;"

What a disservice to the law abiding gun owners, sportsman, hunters and competitive target shooters in New Jersey who legally own “assault weapons”  from a Governor who has disgraced the Office of Governor, himself, his wife, children, and compromised the safety of the people of New Jersey. You should hang your head in shame for your disservice.  You won’t even resign now and let the good people of New Jersey elect a new Governor of their choosing to represent them.

BTW Governor McGreevey perhaps you haven't heard of the Civilian Marksmanship Program which was created by an act of the U.S. Congress which operates in New Jersey and promotes the use of AR-15 type rifles and other “assault rifles” in its competitive marksmanship program.

"The CMP was created by the U.S. Congress. The original purpose was to provide civilians an opportunity to learn and practice marksmanship skills so they would be skilled marksmen if later called on to serve the U.S. military. Over the years the emphasis of the program shifted to focus on youth development through marksmanship. From 1916 until 1996 the CMP was administered by the U.S. Army. The National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 1996 (TITLE XVI) created the Corporation for the Promotion of Rifle Practice & Firearms Safety, Inc. (CPRPFS) to take over administration and promotion of the CMP. The CPRPFS is a tax exempt not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization that derives its mission from public law."

"The Civilian Marksmanship Program Highpower Competition Rifle Purchase Program offers CMP-affiliated state associations and clubs a unique opportunity to purchase accurized AR-15-Type match rifles at prices subsidized by the CMP.  The program is designed to help state association and club highpower shooters obtain the rifles they need to compete successfully in service rifle competitions.

Highpower rifle shooting has changed dramatically in the last few years.  Accurized M-16 and AR-15-Type rifles with fast-twist barrels and 5.56mm ammunition with high ballistic coefficient bullets now dominate highpower service rifle competitions.  The last eight National Service Rifle Championships were won with M-16’s.  Leading military rifle teams now use M-16’s exclusively while many civilian teams are now choosing accurized AR-15-Type rifles.

The CMP Program subsidizes the purchase price of these unique target arms when they are purchased through a CMP affiliated club or state association that has both a highpower rifle program and a junior rifle program.  This program is made possible through special agreements between the CMP, Bushmaster and Compass Lake Engineering."

Fuck you ex Governor McGreevey for your inaccurate, insulting and useless assault weapon executive order.
