Yeah if his dramatics the other day didn't end him, Abbott running ads of Beta as a proud NRA member surely would

Those clowns won't be inside. If they're inside heckling vendors they will be escorted out pretty quickly, I imagine. There are designated protest zones.

Do be aware on your walk in/out though...

Protestors are across from the convention center at Discovery Green.  There are tons of cops everywhere.

I couldn’t get a good angle to take a pic, but this is them across the way.  It’s pretty hot out in the high 90s.  I hope they burned and got heat stroke.

Well, I was going to the meeting and try to speak about how Wayne needed to go but I'm just going to go to the show and not bitch and moan because of the obvious reason. probably would have been run out of there anyway.

Ill be there tomorrow with a old green ARF cap on.

Just got back to the hotel from the show - walked there and back with zero issues, never even saw a protester.
As others have said there is a VERY strong police presence.

As an FYI - It was like we thought, no metal detectors to get into the building or the main exhibit hall.

It was a great show with a lot of vendors.   I was able to get hands on several firearms and accessories I had been curious about.
Other than crappy 5 hour drive on I45 to get here and some sore feet from walking the show for 7 hours I have zero regrets on attending.

It really bothering me to not be there, but I could not justify going on Memorial weekend. Too much other stuff with family and friends going on. Maybe next year. They are supposed to be in Indianapolis. I have never been there, so looks like a good reason to go.

Thanks for the AAR from today. Will be there tomorrow before the exhibit hall opens to make a day of it. While I'm thinking about it fuck Robert Francis the fake Mexican O'Rourke.

$40 to park.
$35 to pay for a third of a button on Wayne’s suit reup membership

It was eeeh. Last one in town was better.

Being called a baby killer was nice. I politely told her a killer a bunch in the shower thinking of her daughter. I have no idea if she has one. But it made her shut up for a bit.

They're a lifestyle brand. Their sales are driven in large part by image. It wasn't a good look when they pandered to antigun nuts.

Didn't seem as big as Dallas a few years back.

Was a good excuse to spend some time with my family even though my wife and middle child spent most of the time outside laughing at the protestors.

My son had a good time.

Saw several busses of protesters from out of state driving on up to the place
They filmed us and called us names.  Fuck them they have killed more babies than all the guns in that building.

We laughed at the protesters and saw some of what appeared to be proud boys try to get to the protesters
Cops everywhere and they kept them separate.
Payed 25 to park under the green right in front of grb

Had a good time with my brother.  Talked with Dillon about my carbide 44 mag dies I have waited 18 months for.

Met some good folks from all across this country.
Found some guns I need

When asked if I wanted to upgrade my endowment membership I said I would when Wayne resigned.

At this point in the "Perfect Purity Pogroms", I think it would be much easier to just list those without "sin"...

It was an interesting show.

My brother & a few friends enjoyed the day there on our "Associate Memberships" (I'm a GOA Guy myself)

Other than rediculous parking, it was a great time.

Protesting was a non-factor, but from the press you'd get the idea that it was an "Enormous Anti-Gun Army" assembled.

Still, carried my M&P, just because I always carry my M&P.

Was HOT as Hell outside ?? & I hope Houston's Heat & Humidity took it's toll on the protesters outside.

It was nice to see the meeting & show back since COVID shut it down.

Went down for a few hours this morning. I wanted to look at a handful of optics and got that goal accomplished.
I’m a fan of the new fc-dmx reticle in Nightforce Atacr and nx8 1-8. Their dark earth color is cool but not sure it’s worth the premium. More of their optics are in my future.

The new primary arms 1-8 is nice.

I’m excited for the release of the Holosun EPS sights. They looked pretty nice. Closed emitter are the future.

The newer iray micro multipurpose thermal looked really nice but I have a hard time spending THAT much on china.

Wanted to take a look at the agm fusion monocular just recently released but the batteries were dead and they didn’t have any charged.

Seems like mile high didn’t show up or pulled out early. I really wanted to check out an at-x, oh well.

No protesters when we got there but there were a handful across the street when we left.

It was a good show.  Me and some buddies were there when it opened Friday, and while Suits LaPierre is a blight on the NRA, it was a very well run and organized event from what I saw.  Lots of secuirty at the gates to keep the nose ringers out, it was quick for a buddy to get his pass, and the front hall was nicely decorated and festive.

Lots and lots of good stuff to see.  Some highlights to me:

FN had lots of lots of cool stuff.  M249s for those who have 10 grand to spend on something that will sell for 15 in a few years (first batch sold for 7).  The 509 pistol series is nice, and after years of coming out with good pistols only to move to something different, they seem to have settled on the 509 series as a sort of Glock modular system, with common mags, and slides.  Their mid sized Tac is a G19 niche, and is very nice.  Might have to pony up for that.  They had their new Hi-Power, and as a HP owner, the newer version just didn't do anything for me.  I'm sure it's a good gun, but it didn't have the classic HP look.  Would be good for someone who doesn't have what a HP should look like burned into their mind.

Colt had all their Snake guns, and they are beautiful, and have very smooth actions.  They have a .22 coming up - 10 shots.  Someone asked if they were going to call it the Diamondback (maybe the original name of the Snake .22), but the Colt rep said that name was being used by some other company so they were going to put that one in the Cobra line up.

Springfield had a big booth, and the Hellion is a neat gun.  Handy, feels good, only downside is the usual poor bullpup trigger.  I handled their Waypoint bolt action for the first time, and man is it nice.  Light, balanced, smooth action, and a great trigger.  Not cheap at over 2 grand, but it's very well designed.  Their Hi Power is set up the way I did my 90's FN, after spending about 400 bucks on.  If you can find one for the below 700 bucks it lists at, it's a steal and a slam dunk.

HK had all their goodies, and I must say, the SP5K is an attention grabbing gun, and I may have to save up my lunch money for it.

S&W had their bullpup, with felt good, and the CSX mini 9mm was a nice one too.

PSA had lots and lots of AK style guns, and their AK 9mm is a handy little braced pistol that may be coming to a safe near me too.  Their rep said their owner really like the AK pattern and wanted to make them the go to source for US AK's.  He said they were working on a RPK version, and were planning on Draganov (sp) style 7.62x54Rmm rifles, even a Mosin version, now that the old surplus ones are 500 bucks or more.

Lots of interesting historical displays too.  One booth was dedicated to the history of the Kentucky long rifle, another guy had a bunch of WWII stuff, including a 75mm howitzer, M2 flamethrower, Thompson, M3, and lots of British and Jap guns too.

All the vendor reps were very friendly and seemed to enjoy talking about their products and guns in general.  I talked to the Surefire guys for a while about their rifle suppressors and they said they had a new model in the works.

This was my first NRA show, and won't be my last (assuming Wayne doesn't drain it dry like a cheap-ass vampire).  I spent all day there and still didn't see near enough.

Only downside was parking - for others.  My handy Metro pass got me there and back for 6 bucks.  Suckers!

This truly is the Golden Age of guns.  Some fantastic guns being produced now, with cutting edge technology.  25 states including Texas (thanks to GOA Texas) are all the way on Constitutional Carry, and the Supreme Court will drop the hammer in a month or less on the few states that don't have shall issue, plus hopefully instructions to the lower courts not to keep Strict Scrutinyzing every anti-gun law until it's constitutional.  Yeah we have fights on our hands - always do.  Learn how to smile while you fight and enjoy the battle as well as the victories.

Probably as good as investment as any right now.

I'd have figured everyone was going to have their best BBQ gun in a fancy leather holster, open carry.  But didn't see a single open carry all day.

I saw a handful of older fellows with lcp/kahr/shield sized guns in owb holsters. A few had badges and they looked like rural deputies or sheriffs.

Made me feel overgunned with a staccato c2 aiwb.

FWIW, I went just on Saturday and have no regrets.

Walked away with an assortment of t-shirts, a resupply of Ballistol, a DriFireMag, and a very nice jacket for my mother-in-law, who was there with me and my wife.

One of the highlights was checking out the reflex sights from Holosun. That green circle/dot reticle absolutely rocks. I have monovision contacts, which means one eye for distance and the other for close in. Unfortunately, my prescription has my non-dominant eye for close in, so it's like I'm in a cross-dominant scenario when aiming. I could see the Holosun green reticle with my distance (dominant) eye with no problem! Gonna get me an SCS sight with green reticle when they hit the market.

Another highlight was the secret compartment furniture.

All considered, was worth attending.

The protesters were cool. Yes, they were calling us baby killers and shouting at us but they weren't throwing anything or spitting or anything like that. They just wanted their opportunity to be heard. I'll take that crowd over a BLM crowd any time. IMO, protesting is as American as apple pie.
