Had fun in lufkin on saturday. Picked up an 870 marine magnum, kind of a grail that I've been looking for. This is militaria and gun show, so lots more militaria gear than a normal gunshow. Sold a lot of the spare parts I've had for years to people looking for specific manufacturers or dates, on things I had no idea that were that important. While walking around I stumbled across an anti tank 37mm......at least I think that's what it was.....need to get a pic of it.

Nice show today. Met RebelYell while I was there. Always nice to meet another Arfcommer in the wild.
I didn't expect that big of a crowd. It was nut to butt from the entrance to the exit. It looked like the old days at Market Hall. I saw one Hi Point carbine and the dealer was a little too proud of it for me. There may have been a gen3 Glock 19 there but my eye didn't catch it through the crowd. Interesting to see a few $600 Ar's still around. Affordable 1911's are another matter. This was the first time I have been inside the track during the day. We have been there twice for the Christmas lights where they had concessions in the garage. I was able to get next to the fence between turns one and two and watched the Andretti/Petty driving experience cars run for a bit. I would love to do that one day. Attached File Attached File |

View Quote No worries... as I texted back earlier, I've not been a frequent attendee at any of the shows for quite awhile, so I'm not complaining even a tiny bit that someone no-showed. I just wanted to pick up a bag and say hi in person since it's been a few years since I'd seen him. I just ordered online what I was wanting to pick up. But I was just checking earlier to see if he'd left the bunny at home. I had cabin fever, so I went even though I was expecting to be disappointed by pricing. The stuff I'd have bought in the show was way overpriced. eg - $85 for a 40mm ammo can?!?!? That's whack. So it was a cheap day. All I could find was to donate $10 to an animal rescue in the atrium. Odds are strong that I won't do another show until Potatus is gone. Cause my snorting and eye rolls about pricing are gonna get me smacked. |

It's got more antique Winchesters & Colt SAAs per sq foot than Tulsa. It's a small show, but if you're in the market, drive down & take a look. Keep in mind it's a Friday/Saturday show, not a Saturday/Sunday. If you stay til the end Friday night, they have beer upstairs. ETA: You might also go to the upcoming show in Arlington later this month - they come to D/FW once a year. Lots of antiques there as well, + Tulsa's coming up in April. |

I went to henderson yesterday, looked well attended. Snowing but not sticking thank God....guess no one wanted to be out in cold wet weather. Going to Greenville after church in Yantis, so I'm halfway there already.

Made it to Greenville today. With the other shows this weekend it did not seem as well attended today. i did trade into an old ELCAN C79 (i think that is what it is) for what i thought was a good price, now to see if i can get the tritium replaced in it.....i've got an old TA01 Trijicon ACOG need to get done too come to think of it.....

I brought my M1 to the show for a buddy to look at and they didn't want to let me out of the building because the case didn't have a sold sticker on it. I guess they hadn't thought of someone bringing something in and not selling it. |

When you bring your gun in a dot would have been put on it. They put dots on all my stuff when I went in.

The two guys at the door were so enthralled with the Garand they forgot to put a sticker on my case. That was the first show I had ever seen that "system" at. |

Probably not going to make the shows. Anyone see a can of the new style Alliant Herco, grab it for me and I'll buy lunch.

Yes, if you go take lots of money. They're proud of those antiques.

Folks, figger this is as good a time as any to ask - what can we improve in this thread? Something that should be added to the OP? The OP should be reorganized?
I would that we schedule dinner locations far in advance, but we often dine w/ a group of out-of-town dealers from the show, who make plans on Saturday afternoons. It's like herding cats, so I'm not entirely sure we can do better there. Currently, I try to track from Abilene to Shreveport, the Oklahoma border to Waco. Should this be an all-Texas thread instead of north Texas? |

If you want to make more work for yourself, knock yourself out. You are already posting links to shows well outside the radius of my willingness to travel. No complaints here.

Went to Nacanowhere yesterday for the gunshow. Several of the dealers said they actually did better than they thought they would on Friday evening. The normal.gripers were griping it wasnt worth it of course. Swear if some people were given a handful of winning lottery tickets they would complain. It was pretty crowded though, guess everyone wanted to come inside out of the rain. I did trade off some stuff and wound up with a S&W 325 Thunder Ranch in 45acp that I had been looking for one for a while.

I know you comment on them occasionally in comments, but I'd like to know which ones are the biggest/best and which ones are small. Is the Fort Worth Premier the biggest now? |

View Quote Yes, the biggest in N Texas is Premier's Will Rogers in Fort Worth, then Lone Star's in the same location, then Premier's Waxahachie show. You'll have occasional largish shows like New Frontier, the NRA convention, Dallas Safari Club (annual) come to town, but only New Frontier is a gunshow in the traditional sense, and it's not as big as Lone Star's Fort Worth show when I attended last year, albeit there's far more antiques. Dallas Market Hall in the Obama years under the Dallas Arms Collectors Association was the biggest in Texas, but when Trump got elected, it went downhill fast. Premier took it over, & DACA sets up at Southfork Ranch 4-5 times a year. There was a shooting in the parking lot after Premier took it over, and Market Hall kicked us out. Mesquite Big Town was up for #2, but then that building was closed, and I don't have any information as to whether it will reopen or not. Premier only has the Mesquite Rodeo show on their schedule for the rest of the year. I'm afraid I don't have any comparisons to contemporary Houston or San Antonio shows, since the last San Antonio show I went to was almost 5 years ago on my honeymoon. Premier posts their table counts, and I think other vendors do as well, so I'll try to remember to post those in the OP. The biggest show in the greater area is of course Tulsa, which is coming up. |

Updated the schedule through May, and added table counts where the vendor has published em. There is a blade show in FW coming up, but no mention of guns, so I've not listed it.
