Planning on taking the family to Houston Zoo this weekend.  Kids want to see the lights and we haven't been in a long time.
Personally, unless there are metal detectors, I'm carrying.

My only concern is open or concealed?  Open carry is more comfortable.  But, I'm betting it will be a little chilly and jacket will be worn regardless.

Usually, if I am not open carrying, I opt for the Maxpedition Jumbo Versapak.  I'm a Type 1 diabetic, so I need pump supplies, glucose meter, etc anyway.  Plenty of room in that thing.

Unless anything has changed they are posted, however most agree they are not valid since the zoo is on city property.    I would carry concealed unless you want to make a scene.

It is posted, however no metal detectors.

Feel safer both around the animals in the zoo, and outside in that area.

I'm guessing they posted that when the Dallas Zoo said that they were an educational institution.

+1 to Austin

However, Whatever you do, DONT leave the gun in your vehicle! Even if its locked up (unless you have one of those cool HD under the seat vaults). I've heard of people getting vehicles stolen or broken into. If you live in Houston area, I'm sure you know that its not in the beat area.

30.06 signs seem to be more and more common as time goes on.

Even now that I live way out here in West Texas where everyone has multiple guns I keep seeing them pop up.

Concealed means concealed.

And if I was in an area that posted, it would def be concealed, no OWB, period.

It is posted.  IT is on city property.

Concealed is concealed.

It's not the zoo that you need to carry to, it's the damn parking lot.  The Houston Zoo parking lot is fucking terrible and notorious for having people fight over spots every year.

The whole Herman Park can be kind of iffy.

Especially in the summer when some of the weekend entertainment trends toward the Rich Vibrant & Exciting...

+1 on not leaving anything in your car you don't want stolen.  Herman park (and the parking lots) have been known for lots of theft...

Plenty of gun owning country folk see absolutley no need for the carrying of weapons- or those scary "assault weapons"
They unknowingly have aligned themselves with the left in that regard.

It seems that our AG has given every zoo in the state the go ahead. The ruling on the FWZ has been the last to come down.

its all been said but yeah...   concealed means concealed
not for the zoo but for the parking lot

leave nothing visible in the car
the parking lot itself is featured on several youtube/whirlstar fight videos
dont really have to worry
the parking lot only gets famous on free admission to the zoo days
