The Battle of San Jacinto occurred April 21, 1836 - 180 years ago.

My favorite ancestor was there - in charge of one of the twin sister cannons.

Remember the Alamo! Remember Goliad! God Bless Texas!

Texas State Cemetary - section title Republic Hill. He died of pneumonia in Austin while serving as a doorkeeper of sorts for the State Capital - whatever structure that was at the time. The roads were considered too muddy to transport him home to Bedias, so there his remains rest.

I tried to visit the grave site about a month ago but when I learned about the South by Southwest whatever I chose to make it another time. When I was mapping the location of the gravesite I learned that George W. and Laura Bush as well as Rick Perry and his wife have reserved plots right next to Mr. Plaster.

Several state headstones in Nacogdoches. I should have snapped a pic when I was there
