TRAVIS COUNTY, Texas (KXAN) - A Lakeway police sergeant was killed in a wreck Thursday morning at Ranch Road 620 at Boulder Lane in western Travis County.

The officer, whose name was not released, was off duty and on his way to work, officials at the scene said.

Sheriff's deputies are detouring traffic around the crash involving one car, carrying only that person. Austin police said the car possibly hit a light pole.

The wreck happened on a heavily traveled stretch of RR 620 south of Anderson Mill Road and north of Bullock Hollow Road.

Meanwhile, RR 620 is closed in both direction near Boulder Lane. It is expected to be that way for at least two more hours.
