This one is on the 18th.  Starts at noon.  Ends about 6.

No tracers

No explosives

If you think it was dry 2 months ago, you should see it now.

I hate to do this, but it's just too dry out there.

When we get a couple of decent rains, we'll set it up again.

Turn left at the first mass grave, go 1.25 miles.  It's on the left.  Look for the circling buzzards.

Those things were cool, as I said in the video "they come right back up". I never would have thought they would come back up as fast and last as long as they do. Plus you get the feed back of a hit.

Damn that sucks, I understand though. I remember last year when the stump caught fire and it wasn't near this dry. Thanks for the thought though.

I went out there to mow today.  There was nothing to mow.  When you walked around, it sounded like you were walking around in the winter with leaves on the ground.  That stump catching fire last year ran through my mind.  That's why I decided to postpone it.  I've been out here for over 16 years, and this is the dryest I've ever seen it.  Usually by this time of year, most of the people around here have cut hay twice.  I haven't seen any cut this year.

Yep it's bad this year. I guess if a fire started out there you'd be screwed, I don't remember seeing a water hose close by back there. Looking at the weather sure dosn't help either. I believe it's forcasted to be 100° for the rest of the week and of course no rain.

The closest water hose is back at the house, and it's only 100 ft.

Getting sued by my neighbors is not on my to do list this year.

Wise choice considering.  These pickled quail eggs will just taste better when we do have the shoot.

I found this on the internet this morning.

— About 300 East Texas residents have been evacuated to escape a wildfire blamed on hunters doing target practice.

Billy Ted Smith, who’s emergency management coordinator for Jasper, Newton and Sabine counties, says residents who evacuated Sunday could be allowed to return later Monday.

Smith told The Associated Press that eight camp houses have been destroyed in the 3,500 acre fire that began Saturday. The wildfire is 30 percent contained.

Smith says the fire was apparently started by Arfcommers shooting at old butane tanks for target practice, with the bullet sparks causing the wildfire.

Damn... someone beat me to it. I wanted to catch a tree on fire by shooting it repeatedly until it achieved combustion.... Or at least shoot dirt and grass until it caught on fire...
Gosh darn it...
I guess that means someone else gets the "Biggest Douche in the Universe" award this year.

oh well...
