I am finishing the last steps to purchase a house and should be moving in soon. Currently I am with Reliant and on one of their fixed plans. What are some of the cheaper providers in the Houston area? I am moving from a 1 bedroom apartment to a 3 bedroom house so I am trying to find the cheapest provider.

You can search by fixed/variable, contract length, cancellation fees, etc.

All power in the Houston area is actually provided by Centerpoint...deregulation just gave the brokers some profits.

Make sure you look at the total average cost for the number of kilowatt hrs you use monthly. Your Reliant plan may end up being cheaper. Whatever provider you choose make sure you read the facts label thats lists the associated fees.
