Since my tax return is going to be a little bigger than expected, I'm going to be in the market for a new carry pistol.   Top of my list is a Glock 19 or 26, and in a topic in GD, many people mentioned the gunshows in Houston are usually ripe with 'em.  

Looks like Austin won't have another gun show until May (according to the SAXET site, and I don't think anyone else is running one in this AO), and I may have the coin around the end of this month or early next month.  I'm thinking about taking a day to swing down to Houston to hit the fun show and see if I can find me a good carry pistol.

Looks like some big gaps in the schedules...  

There is one in Conroe on the 26th and 27th.  I'm not sure I'll have my cashola by then.  Next ones are middle of March.   I might be able to make that Conroe show, tho.  I need to burn a vacation day before the end of the month, and will probably take the 25th off.... I should have my bonus check that Thursday, too...

After Conroe, the next one is Pasadena High Caliber Mar 5-6, then Real Gun Show Mar 12-13.

I think Conroe would be a little closer geographically, and I'd expect there will probably be a lot of the same vendors.  

Is it a fairly large show out there?  The one in Austin, last time I went (several years ago) had gotten pretty small and pathetic.

is it really worth the drive from austin to houston just to buy a glock? there's always cheap used glocks at GT and McBrides. And gunshow prices on new ones (even from the big dealers like AJC and Bachman) would only be a little less than if you just picked one up at Academy. also, they pop up on texasguntrader.com from time to time...

I'm going to check prices before I make the trek, absolutely.   There are a few places I can check locally - like you mentioned, McB's, GT Dist, and a few more.   A friend of mine who is APD commented, though, that you'd have to LIVE at GT Dist to catch a used 19, since they are pretty popular, so that's not a warm/fuzzy for my situation.   However, my tax return is even bigger than I thought it was going to be, so I should be able to swing a new one.

Also, there's a motorcycle meet up in Conroe that Saturday I may end up going to anyway, so I may be able to kill two birds with one stone.    If that works out (weather, vacation time since I work Friday nights...) I'll call around locally and see if anyone has any 19s (or 26s), and what their prices are... then hit the show and compare.  If I'm out there anyway and I save $20, then that pays for the gas.   If I can't find a better deal out there, I just stop by whichever local place has 'em and has a good price on them.
