We usually use the Extended Stay @ Guadalupe/6th, or the Homestead Suites on 1st south of the river. We don't spend any time in the room except to clean up/sleep/etc, and the hotel on 6th St is w/i walking distance of most downtown entertainment/eating. Pretty spartan, nothing fancy, but usually cheap.

My wife stays at the Omni Southwest when she is there on business. VERY nice, 3 1/2 to 4 star place, usually about $109 a night.

I found a deal at Barton Creek at $116 a night, anyone have any experience there?

Barton Creek Resort & Spa, 8212 Barton Club Dr.... is that the place you are talking about? If so then while I've never been there I'm sure it is very nice. It's right smack dab in the middle of the wealthy area of Austin. You won't fine any urban utes for miles, that's for sure. The County Line BBQ on the hill looks down at the place, decent joint for BBQ if you are so inclined.

+5 on the Omni, my wife and I stay at the Omni as often as we can, call and ask if they have any deals.
