Sources for St. Augustine grass?

Now before you respond, you need to realize there are different varieties of St. Augustine. Last year I picked up a couple dozen plugs from Calloway's nursery - these were Palmetto variety St. Augustine. They didn't really do that well in my lawn. The majority of it is shaded pretty well so I'm thinking one of the other different types, like Bitter Blue or Sapphire but I don't know who would carry this. Any suggestions?

What part of the state? I would assume you don't want to drive hundreds of miles to pick up a couple of pallettes of sod... and you can't buy St. Augustine seed anywhere I know of, it is a hybrid and the seed generally isn't viable enough for commercial purposes.

Wherever you buy it check it out yourself and refuse delivery of any brown dead grass
I would buy it bu the flat and not try to grow it from plugs

I would spend the extra money and buy Zoysia. It loves the sun. Feels like carpet when you walk on it. Also not as susceptible to take all/root rot like St. Augustine is....

I resodded my backyard with it and never looked back. Oh yeah, You also do not have to mow it as much.
