I'm having a hell of a time finding a sturdy work bench for the shop.  I've tried craigslist.  Actually going to look at one in Spring tomorrow, but I'm not sure it's going to work.  Need something at least 5'x3'.  At least 3.5' tall would be great.  I've looked at all the big box hardware stores and came up with nothing but crap.  I also need something that I could bolt or weld casters to if it doesn't already have them.  Anyone know any fabricators with decent pricing or a place I've not thought to look?  Thanks in advance.

You might try searching for a welding table. I made a couple from 3/16 plate, wish I had used heavier, used some 2" tube and angle for the legs. 4 - 500lb cast iron casters for wheels. Pretty easy to weld up yourself.

I got the plate at a regular steel yard, I just walked in and asked for some "drop" plate. Got some 3'x4' pieces for $40.

Why don't you call a flamecutting company  and have them cut you a table top to your liking.  Say, something like 60" x 36" x 1/2" then weld some legs to it.

In the past, we've ordered our benches from Global Industrial if you don't want to fabricate one yourself.

I built one out of a 3' x 6'8" solid wood door.  Used the knob holes for cords to pass through.  I have a  6" heavy shop vise bolted to it.  Solid as a rock.  Bought the door for $25 as damaged.  Weld on it all the time.
