I am at the airport, bags checked headed for sunny hell paradise.
Anyways, I was running late at home and when I declared my firearm, I realized that I had not packed my ammo

I can only kick myself in the ass so much.

1) Is there any place in the immediate downtown area where I can purchase some carry ammo. I have always carried and shot Ranger T's and that is what I feel most comfortable with, but at this point I am not sure I have many options.

2) I currently do not have a rental car, but am considering getting one. Is there anywhere within a reasonable drive (30-45 min) that carreis police supply. I could stock up on some extra ammo as well as some for my handgun.

Talk about extreme changes of weather. With a hot weather like this, you can lose couple lbs of sweat without even working out.

As far as ammo is concerned, googling gun shops in San Antonio is your last resort if some San Antone ARFCOMMERS happen to overlook this thread.

The closest gunshop to you is Nagel's down on San Pedro inside loop 410. Within 30 minutes, you could drive to one of the many academies or walmarts nearby. 30 minutes could also get you to Hoguns on culebra, Basspro at the Rim.
There's an academy on 410 and vance jackson, probably 12 minutes, 1 at 1604 near 281 about 10-15 min. There's a walmart near the 281 and 1604 intersect.
FYI the aiport backs up to 281 and 410.

Id skip nagels, he's high on everything. I dont live in SA but I'm not far from there. I was disapointed when I stop by there to check it out. I havnt been to hogun but I heard its one of the better plces in that area.

I dont mind taking a cab, but dont want to spend $30 on a cab for a $25 box of ammo

I need to find one of those places too. Close to where I am, wherever that is. Carries premium ammo in stock. Cheep.

Hell, I would be happy finding premium ammo anywhere.

Don't know how things are in AK, but here in TX, most ammo is hard to find. Wal-Marts aren't going to help, if they get ammo in, it's gone within a few hours, usually sold before they can even unbox it. And I haven't seen any hollow points in any of the many WM's I check the last several months. Academy is also hit and miss. A few of the gun shops might have some, but be prepared to pay more for it.

If you are going to be in the downtown area Nagels will be your best bet. They have a fairly large supply of everything because they charge a 1/3rd over MSRP. However, it should be cheaper than taking the longer cab ride if you only need ammo.

Dury's is your best bet for SD ammo.

They are only open from Tuesday-Saturday though.

Shit I just looked at how much ammo was going for

Last time I bought Ranger in Alaksa I paid $20 a box and it wasnt that long ago.

No, left Sarah and the kids at home. Dont want to be fodder for Letterman jokes.

And, dont kid yourself, my borough alone is almost as big as Texas (and we have less than 100,000 people living there. I can open carry, concealed carry, shoot off my porch, drive 5 minutes and be in the middle of no where, drive 5 minutes and have prime hunting and fishing, drive 5 minutes and shoot anything and everything to include 50's and MG's with no fees, our governor kicks ass, but I will conced one fact.... Your women are very nice and Ive only been on the ground for a few hours.

If it wasnt so damn hot here I would actually enjoy San Antonio, but holy hell, give me this (photo taken last winter) any day over your heat and humidity.
