As we all know, ammo market has dried up. I have searched high and low for anything in 9mm and 45 ACP (FMJ for range use) but keep coming up empty handed.
Let's help each other out here and let others know where ammo can be found (in Texas) regardless what caliber. I'm set pretty good for rifle ammo but I know not everyone else is. |
Nothing specific, but just keep checking local Wal-Marts. Last time I went, the girl there had a sheet with the shipping schedule on it for the next few days, and she had just put out a couple of cases of WWB 9mm and .45.
I didn't look at 9mm or 45, but Cabelas in FTW has a metric ass ton of 223 in 50 rnd boxes for around $21. I don't remember the brand, Fiocce or something like that. I guess that is not a terrible price, but I'm still waiting on ammo to come down a bit before I start buying again.

I was laughing today, while cruising by the ammo counter at the Forest @ Abrams Wal-Mart (the new one), I overheard the clerk giving directions to TargetMasters to a guy who was looking for ammo. They did have some .223 Fed value packs in stock ($400/k + tax is supposed to be desirable?), and some .40 value packs, but no bulk anything in .22.

The sadness of empty ammo shelves is overwhelming...............................

This is a great idea. Next time I'm out shopping I'll post up what I find.
problem is we are our own worst enemy... When it hits the shelf one of us buys it ALL. It is a free country but hard for those of us who are willing to buy a few boxes at a time?
And by the time the Wallmart update hits the forum...it be ALL gone. Mark. |

I bought 2k of Monarch (PPU) brass 9mm at the Academy at Forest & 75 today for around $450 after tax. Not a great deal, I know, but I'll take what I can get in this market.
I've been checking the Walmarts at midway/635 and forest/abrams for the last 3-4 days and they don't have jack. |

I spent enough for this week. |

Academy in Austin on 35 and 183 has
-Monarch steel and brass cased .223. ~$10/20 for the brass and ~$6.50/20 for steel. -Monarch steel cased 5.45x39 -Blazer aluminum cased 9mm $10.99/50 -Winchester ranger 124 gr i think ~$22/50 -Blazer 45 acp (aluminum cased i think). not sure on price. I think they had a couple thousand rounds of each. I think I mostly saw the Blazer and the Ranger. they had a lot of odds and ends ammo going in the major calibers. They've got a couple boxes of Winchester .308 sitting on the shelf too. |
As of two days ago Marble Falls Walmart had 1200rds of .223
It appears this WM has been getting lucky on getting the .223 @ $39.97 ( Federal value pack 100rds.) You guys looking for AR ammo need to check here once a week. I do and been buying 5-600rds at a time. |

Friday 6 March GT Dist in Austin had XM193.
Link as of 1 minute ago: http://www.gtdist.com/ProductDetail.aspx?PartNumber=FC-XM193BK I don't know how often their website is updated, so... About a year ago, they would not sell me Federal LE buckshot and slugs because I am not an LEO. But they did sell me XM193 on Friday. |

Plenty of monarch lacquered 762x39, 545x39, shotgun ammo, and all major rifle calibers. Prices were not on sale but not jacked up either. |

I just got an unopened case (10 boxes) of Federal .22 value packs at the wallmart between richmond ave and westheimer rd about 2 miles west of wilcrest. I think the road its on is called Houston-center or something.
There were 7 550 value packs on the shelf when i left. I thought about snagging them then i figured that 5,500 rounds of .22 would be enough to last me for a while with my new .22 conversion kit thats coming soon for my AR. |

Had just about everything in-stock, including some Bushmaster AR-15s. Only thing I noticed out of whack was Winchester 100 round 9mm Value Pack was $26+, instead of the usual $22.99. They had lots of Winchester 50 round 9mm boxes at $12.49, so folks were buying that. Lots of 5.45, 5.56, 7,62 too! |

Ditto for the Academy in Grapevine (as of last night) - note that it was also soft point for those non-FMJ friendly ranges. Also had lots of $$$ Hornaday in .223. Handgun ammo selection looked weak, perhaps even weaker than their depleted selection of firearms...1 Glock, 1 XD, no ARs, no mini-14s, not even a 10/22. |

Someone should buy up everything they see and sell it to us here online. "Keep it in the family" ya know..
You know it's getting bad when we're happy just to get Monarch or Wolf brand ammo... |
