Guys,
Ms. Coz, using her infinite wisdom and superior intellect, has said "Don't you NEED to go the Hun thing honey? You should go..you always have fun there!" God ,I love her... Anyways, I'm going. Could use a second driver. I plan to go either Thursday morning around 10am or Friday morning about 5 am or earlier. It's 8 hours from my home on the North side. Also, on the drive back we MUST stop at this roadside stand in Bowie and pick up some homemade Jams and Jellies TRUST ME! I think me, Swampthing, Citabria are the only Hou crew dudes that have gone......we need better representation! |
It is 300 miles, gate-to-gate from my house. when travelling alone, I can make the trip in 4 hours. When travelling with a pooty-pooh, it takes 6-7 hours. TRG |
It's a long fricking drive....last year I seem to have not gotten much sleep on Saturday night....something about ETH jumping up and screaming "No chairs in the fire pit!" a half a dozen times or so in the cabin..... So, about Huntsville, this whiteboy started getting pretty damn sleepy..... Ms. Coz was waiting at home for me to take her to dinner after being gone for three days....I was quite the dinnertime conversationalist.....NOT! |
So SC weighed in about the HouCrew going on the main Hun Farm thread.......but anyway, let's show em the Hou-crew toys!
Anytime my wife 'strongly encouraged' me to go hunting, or to the Hun Farm, it always made me wonder... TRG |
I'll Be there if all is well with the wife. She is due the end of May with our third. She is behind me laughing rite now because TRG said "Pooty-Poo."
She hates that word. I use it alot. |
She knows how much me and 1nutgummer miss you! |
I will be attending, assuming the Hou-crew is still going to do the carpool thing
I used it, because of our conversation yesterday. Tell 'Pooty-poo' to go make you a sammich. TRG |
ah, but now your older, wiser and know the drill. but if were you i would watch clock work orange just to be sure. |
You know I'm there, but I have to go to DFW first to pick up Lady_K. Plus with all the gear and the fearless dog, I have very little room left in the truck.
Hey, I know! Let ME swing by and pick up Lady_K on my way through town. I am sure 1GR and I can keep her occupied on the way up. TRG PS. We need someone to make the sammiches and put fresh ice in our drinks! |
Instead of a witty retort, I'm just going to point her to this thread. Actually, I'd better not. I forgot how enamored she got playing with your sputtering toy last time. |
I upgraded my sputter for her. TRG |
Are you sure you want to equate your "sputterer" with a little .22 LR? You going to bring a chica this time, or just prey on the unconscious drunks? |
I think I'm going to be headed there too. UPDATE: will not be going. Final exams are the NEXT day after this trip. Need to settle down and study for them. |
I'd advise you to stay conscious. TRG |

unfortunatly no, I'll be starting my FTO with PCT5 soon. |
Yes...with that wee thing, I'm sure you're a hazard to light sleepers everywhere. |
I demand a recount, it was cold that morning! TRG |

THR-Thumper unfortunately I won't be able to attend as we have our Iowegian Spring Shoot that Saturday, since I'm the Moderator for the IA HTF and we're taking out our machine guns...I'll be there. $$ also comes into play as I'm driving the ambulance out to UT to meet my wife and daughter (they're flying) for a family vacation, then my wife goes to her convention in SLC and the daughter and I head up to SE Idaho and go camping/hiking/swimming/tubing in the river at our ranch up in the mountains for 5 days. We'll stay the night in Preston (where Napolean Dynamite was filmed) that last night so we can get cleaned up before she and my wife fly back home later that day and I start the drive back at 53 MPH. With fuel costs what they are I've been trying to save money where I can and put into the "diesel fund" for that trip and will then start saving up for the next "diesel fund"...hopefully a trip to the Hun Farm this Fall!
You and Lady_K take care and I look forward to hearing all the stories and seeing pics! |
Sorry to hear that, but I know it's a long, expensive haul, especially in the Booger Mobile. We''ll catch you next time.

Now that we're through with the gheyness and discussion of the size of Sir Gheyness' (aka TRG) manhood....we can resume discussion about the ride to the Farm.
I'll probably head up there either Wednesday night late or early Thursday morn. I have a place to stay just south of Dallas near Corsicana. Just my Dad's (RIP) trailer. It has one bed (MINE) and running water/toilets. It's on an acre and surrounded by my Uncle's and cousin's homes so we'd have to be on our best behavior but it's a three bedroom trailer with floor space for cots/sleeping bags if we want to make it our first stop to break up the long ass drive. Again, we'd have to be on our best behavior. My uncles are cool and shoot and drink, but, they aren't younguns so we can't be outside screaming and stuff and playing loud ass music, but, we can sleep and SSS in the morning before proceeding another 4.5 hours or so to the farm. It's in Mertens, TX halfway between Corsicana and Hillsboro on Texas 22. Don't ask for no GPS coordinates cause I don't have em. It will certainly make the drive easier. I'm doing it regardless, but want to offer Hou-crew folks a place to alight approximately halfway up to the Farm. reply here if there's interest. Coz_45 out |
are they going to be doing stuff like that at the hun farm? if so what can we expect? Are we going to have loud music non stop and folks screaming at the top their lungs at 3am? Folks sitting around the camp fire and someone throw in a half pint of white gas or people shooting guns in the middle of the night? i am kind of fuzzy on the whole hun farm experience. |
You think you're fuzzy now? Wait 'til afterwards. |
Very true... TRG |
We stay up a bit late now and then and sit around the campfire..and TxRednec's truck's sound system is LOUD. ...but people sit around the campfire till all hours oftentimes.... Last May...Friday night....at about 3 am.....There seemed to be the smell of nylon burning and ETH was jumping up out of the bunk in the cabin running out and yelling "Only WOOD in the fire! No Chairs!" I was just letting everyone know that if we did the halfway camp out, we'd probably not be partying all night... Just trying to be helpful.... Oh, and you don't necessarily have to camp at the Farm. I will probably get a hotel in Quanah...cause I'm a pussy |
No takers from the Hou-Crew?
I am gonna do the halfway sleep deal, because TRG likes everyone to be fresh...... |
I'm not Houston Crew but close enough to Houston. I'm thinking about going. It depends on what my chasing prospects are for that weekend. I won't know if I'm chasing or not that weekend until a week or so beforehand. If I do go to the Hun farm, I'd like to carpool or atleast follow someone else up.
I believe quite a few of the Hou-Crew plan to go. I'm heading up a bit early. I like getting there and watching the arrivals and burning a cigar and sipping bourbon.. Oh and sometimes I shoot stuff. need a coordinated effort for Hou-Crew carpooling and/or convoy. We can use this thread...I'll change the title. |
Well, I was hoping for a two for one deal, shooting stuff and maybe a chase. I won't start getting a idea about a chase for another week or so. Go ahead and count me in on the convoy. I'll bring some bourbon. |
Yes you are a pussy. You want to stop and sleep to break up an 8 hour drive? If your carpooling let someone else drive half way and get your ass up to the farm early. I should get a discount for spoon feeding. |
Any Hou Crew got a spare seat / need a spare driver? I can probably get the time off, but the fuel will be a bunch.
I have a expedtion free. But, depending on conditions, I may storm chase while up there. Right now, it doesn't look like it though. I need one more week to be sure. Any of you guys want to help me out storm chasing? |
storm chasing would be cool....do I get to shoot at it if we catch it
I'll be there Thursday. I'll try to get you memorable gifts again, I guess TCU would be your favorite cap this year? I'm just gonna break it up to enjoy it like a "vacation" instead of work..also, it would be nice to visit my Dad's family in the huge metropolis of Mertens (pop. 143) on the way. I can smoke a cigar and turn up a Glenlivet or three with my uncles and cousin, hear the plights of the great plains farmers and a sojourn to the hunting grounds of my youth is always good. They've even named a road in Hill County after our family....kinda cool. |
