I doubt that I will make it on Sunday, but I'll be there tomorrow AM for some sporting clays.  Looks like the weather is gonna be pretty crappy.

Unfortunately, I don't have a choice of days....it is a corporate tourney.

Tim, I am gonna throw the Celestron in the truck anyway to maybe check it out at the rifle line after the clays if it isn't storming.  Give me a call if you have a spare minute to swing by.

Tony, I am probably not the best instructor as I'm only about a 70% shooter, but we can sure go out and have some fun anyway when you get your weapon.  We can also go hit some skeet at the local place pretty inexpensively.

No can do today sir John. I have a football tournament followed by practice in the afternoon. Today is as good as wasted and hopefully I dont have to swallow a bottle of ibuprofen afterward.

Enjoy shooting the clays.

No doubt!  It wasn't too sloppy when I left at 1145 hours, but it also hadn't started raining too heavy yet either.... like it did the whole way home.

I managed to get 74 birds; not that bad considering the wind and light rain....nor having even picked up the O&U for almost a year.  High overall was 91 from a normally 95+ shooter to give a feel for the course/conditions.

I'd like to visit with you a bit about the use of the SP tools that you recommended; I'll give you a phone call if you don't mind?

9am == sleep time.  10am == possible wake-up.  Y'all need to get more practical hours to go out there, geez.

I am embarrassed to post my groups from this weekend.  I went to my inlaw's place and shot from the prone-Bipod posiiton at 185 yards and was getting 3-4 inch groups.  I haven't shot fromt he ground like that since about 1990.

What should the rifle be capable of do you think?

Well, SC is normally a better shot than that - I saw that myself a few weekends back.

Maybe it is the caliber of the rifle causing problems?        j/k

Seriously, prone is a completely different animal than shooting off the bench.  It takes some practice to get comfortable and in a repeatable position.

What ammo were you using? 3-4 inch groups at that distance is not unreasonable for many types of 5.56 ammo. That is a 5.56?
