So when is the huns farm spring dates for 2006? I need to put it down at work.
We are guests of ETH, on his farm. I think IF there will be a spring gathering, it will be by his invitation.... and his dates. Just guessing.
ETH, if Late April/Early May is a possibility...that's my vote!
Last year it was on Cinco de Mayo I think, or thereabouts.... Man, I hope I can get a kitchen pass again! |
FALARAK is right we are guests at the farm... We need a send out a WAR PARTY out for the ones that trashed the form First...
Wasn't it during the Cynthia Annie Greensprings weekdn or something like that?
mm |
I agree with the 4 eye'd nurturer. |
Yes, usually the spring event is the same weekend as this town celebration which is the 2nd weekend in May. I cant wait...for the next one. |
Cynthia Anne PARKER.... mother of Quanah Parker (look on the map at the first town due north of Crowell). |
Close, it's the Cynthia Ann Parker Days in Crowell, Texas. I always thought it best to have it the same weekend, but I note from their website that they haven't updated the dates from last year...Cynthia Ann Parker Days The reason for this was simply to give folks something else to do that weekend...but it's not set in stone that it needs to be the same weekend, at all. This year I was hoping that the Hun Farm could enter a float in the parade...... Eric The(Wistful)Hun |

I'm in.. Now where can we assemble this and what is the theme ?? |
From what I've seen, we can just get a tractor and hay trailer, throw some bales on it, and present whatever we wish!
Maybe something 'patriotic'...with firearms from different periods in Foard County History carried by folks dressed from the appropriate period. Finally, a chance to wear your Confederate uniform, Spanish American War outfit, doughboy, WWII, Korean, Vietnam, or Persian Gulf I and II uniforms...with the right weapon! Finally! A chance to show off that M-4 in public! Just thinking out loud, but such a float would be 'Best in Show.' Eric The(I'llBringTheBooze!)Hun |
Let's do it Shriner style! TC |
Ok, I concede... That's a very good idea ETH. If this becomes a serious project, I'm in for material and labor. TC |
Great idea.
We need to get someone to volunteer to remain sober to drive the tractor....... That may be tougher than finding some of the needed costumes! |
Why??? That would just RUIN the fun! |
Hey now... highway safety is everyone's responsibilty! BTW, if it has wheels on it, I can drive it. |
hope It on the 2 weekend of may because the first weekend is taken at work. I posted the 2 weekend for vac now pray it matchs the farm days.
Here's the contact info for actually being in the parade.....

I remember we made an ice run in FALARAK's jeep last year during the parade and returned to the Hun Farm with the Go-Go's blaring We Got the Beat or Have You Seen Them over the stereo. If I knew I'd be able to make it down for sure I'd volunteer the use of my camo'd M1010 CUCV military ambulance to be used for the parade. There are 3-side frames on the sides/back to display the "first aid/medic red crosses" that just slide into place and we could make up signs that could just fit in there instead...just thinking out loud. I'm driving the ambulance out to SLC next July (wife and daughter are flying) and meet the family for a family vacation, then up into SE Idaho where my daughter and I will go camp up on our ranch in the mountains while my wife is attending her convention. With that trip already planned and the higher cost of diesel I'm not sure if I will be able to attend the Hun Farm in the spring or not...but we shall see as I could win the Power Ball Lottery between now and then!
I don't think I've ever laughed so hard! Doubtful we'll make it to any event during the school year. |
I have been wanting to attend one of these famed Hun Farm events for quite a while.
This spring it looks like the Cynthia Ann Parker Days festival will be during the last class I need to take before graduating in June. I'll just have to keep an eye on the schedule and see how it goes |
I like your idea ETH, I dont have any uniforms and such or old rifles.. I would drive the tractor since I dont drink much and can drive anything with wheels. Put me down for the build committee or what ever else. I love a parade.. |
... put "New Orleans ISD" on the sides, paint a simulated muddy water line up to the tops of the windows, drape a "Just say 'NO' to Looting" banner on it, and walk along side with our ARs? |
The wife and I will make every effort to not miss this one. Hopefully, I can get her shooting before then. |
EXCELLENT !! |
We have to make it to this one. Especially if Tom Bean was any indicator of what the Hun Farm events are like.
The Hun farm and Tom Beam are so different… The Hun Farm has more bang fot the buck. |
I wanna go to the Hun Farm! I was out of state for the last two events...
The Hun Farm is my family farm situated on the Pease River in Foard County, Texas. This 1,000 acre farm was purchased by my great, great grandfather John Teague Hun in 1885, and his Granddaughter, Dovie Grethel Teague Hun (my Grandmother) was born there in 1900. My Father was born on the Farm in 1923. I shot my first centerfire rifle there in 1962, at age 10. Except for the fencing, and the Cabin that my Aunt Wanda Whitaker Hun and I had built in 1988, the Farm pretty much looks the same as when John Teague Hun bought it in 1885. Our nearest neighbor is about 8.5 miles away. Keep watching this Forum for more details. Eric The(Historical)Hun |

Whitaker? any relations to Ed Whitaker CEO of SBC/att? |
Quoted:
Nope, not to my knowledge, at least. Aunt Wanda was married to Robert L. Whitaker who was a vice-president of West Texas Utilities, back in the 1960s and 1970s. His only son is Keith Whitaker. Eric The(Genealogical)Hun |

No...... there are SEVERAL. |

Welcome !! If you can make a Hun Farm event I highly recommend it. Its a blast !! ( pun intended ) Its strickly roughing it, camping in the great outdoors..no facilities but there is a nice park up the road for a daily shower at 2 bucks. Once you go to an event you will want to attend each and everyone there after, I think it has to do with the great outdoors and the air...uuhhhhmmm not to mention our gracious host |
Hey ETH do if in April right after the 14th. I am going to be in Texas from the 11th-14th and would come right on over.
If you use the park shower for $2 make sure you don't tell any of the campers that you're one of "those people" shooting at all hours of the day and night and sounding like WW III is about to start...just nod your head and agree that those people kept you awake as well.
I'm scheduled to go down to Wichita Falls sometime this year to Sheppard AFB for 7-level school for the Air Guard and it would be sweet if it happened to fall during the Spring Hun Farm get-together! |
You could just be like me and my friends and pitch a tent 100 yrds from the firing line. Then you won't be lying when you say those bastards kept you alive all night too. Next time I'll be up making the tent closest to the firing line stays awake. |
The nice thing about the Hun Farm is that it's big enough that you have plenty of space to camp and don't have to camp real close to the firing line. I camped out in the ambulance about 50 yards from the cabin which was just fine as far as noise from the firing line.

Always someone who had to quit drinking and go to bed early. Really screws up our morning sleep ins.
Oughta be a law. TXL |
Those who go to bed early miss the opportunity of watching their chairs go up in flames around the campfire.
Sounds like a good date. |

Who'd have thought that you would be the first to respond to my post?! 1GR was in rare form that night...but you putting the skunk in the suitcase was a good response!
