C ya there.

Another long range get together. Some new years shooting early.

SC-Texas and Uncle Jimmy should be there as well.

ASC is open from 9-7 today.

I am headed to the 600 yard range asap, trying to beat the wind, to do some load development.

See the rest of the group at 200 or 300 later today.

You bastards.    I bet the weather was perfect, though it does get breezy out there.

Wish I could have joined you.  I probably would have been posting 6" groups at 200 , but it would have been fun to send some lead downrange.

It was good and the weather could not have been nicer.

Long range shooting is like Golf and Shooting combined. The relaxing atmosphere and the godly smell of gunpowder. Life's good.

Not such a cool day for me.  My groups remained opened up until I settled down and started feeding rounds in one by one.

The view through my scope:

200 yard targets

I just love the flyers that screw a group wide open:

SC-Texas's 6.8 SPC is a Bravo Co chrome lined 20" upper with a POF FF. The load may not be optimized for this config. We will have to do more testing.

I brought a couple of the Turkish Mausers to the shoots, but the Krag hasn't been shot in about 5 years.  It was Great-Grandpa's rifle.

Recoil isn't too bad.  It's about the same as a full-size lever gun in .30-30.  Real rifles have steel buttplates.

Kind of like you telling me that the Carcano has a mauser action.

what a travesty.

you're slamming our surplus rifles but at the same time asking me which one would be a good buy.

It's like the same reason most AR owners also gets an AK later. You gota have a beater to appreciate the finer things in life.

So where is my rifle info?

this seems like the best source I've found.  Doesn't look like they'll be anymore imports, so you'll be stuck at around $300 for a nice one.
