I went to Academy to buy my new 10/22 with christmas gift cards.
As I went to book and handed over my license, the counter guy asked if it was all correct and I told him that the address is wrong. He handed back my license and told me he couldn't sell me the gun until I got it updated.

I have bought many guns over the past years, and never had an FFL question my address as long as I put the right one on the form.  So is this an FFL rule or an Academy rule?

BTW.....Don't worry, I found a way to get my gun.

I don't think it is a BATF(e) regulation, nothing in my FFL regulations books specifically states it.  I do know that several dealers in Dallas such as McClelland's, B&S, Bachman Pawn & Gun, D-Ray's will not sell you a firearm if the address on the 4473 and your ID do not match.  I wouldn't be surprised if it's store policy only, I don't think I'd sell one to someone that did not have the correct address on their ID either.

Kewl, thanx for the clarification.  The address is my parents and is the only permenant one I had from 1980-2003.  Guess I need to go get it updated.

Was it in a letter sent to the dealers, or was it published in one of their newsletters?
