When my nephew was 8, we took him to the range and taught him to shoot.  He got to shoot the 10/22, the Daewoo DR-200, even my 8mm Mauser (fitted with a muzzle brake and recoil pad).  He had a blast.

We let him shoot one round out of the 20 gauge shotgun.    He hopped back about a foot from the recoil.  He learned the art of BS too.  We wnet for BBQ afterwards and he told the waitress about how he shot the "great big shotgun that threw him back about ten feet" but he was OK 'cause he was pretty tough.

Took the kids shooting today as matter of fact!  Great weather, and we were the only ones at the range today.  Go figure!

My 12 year old daughter shooting the Remington Model 34.  It was my Granddads rifle.  Bought new in 1936 for around 12$.  Every shooter in the family since then has learned to shoot on this rifle.

Big Brother & Photog/Magazine loader boy!

Dad getting a few in too!  Got lucky with the digital camera and caught the brass flying!

Just can't talk Mom into going yet...  But we're trying!

Those pics are so cool!  My son just left today to go to Ft Leonard Wood, MO for Basic.  I cannot wait until he gets back to take the M4 to the range and also get some pics.  Got a grandbaby on the way too, so I am going to make sure to get them to the range when old enough.  I was fortunate enough my dad started me real young.
