Has anyone been to the Texas Military Forces Museum at Camp Mabry in Austin, Texas?  What are your thoughts and comments?  Is it worth visiting?

I've been to it (used to drill at Camp Mabry) and the museum is pretty interesting!

Lots of items from different ages.  Texas Revolution (Diorama of the Storming of the Alamo!) to the Gulf Wars.

Great military vehicle collection from WWII to Modern (Shermans, Priest, Hertzer, APCs, Tanks, Duster - (still trying to figure out to to "borrow" that one - Twin 40MM fun!!)

I'd recommend it !

It is where my reenacting unit's Hetzer is kept, so yes it is worth visiting.  Not too big, just some vehicles, etc.

Was member there last year.  It is a good place to go.  You will need photo id to get into the camp.

I thought the military vehicles were very very cool, but I like that kind of stuff.

I'd say it's definitely worth the effort.

Of all the strange things....  I just went there for the first time with my Grandfather (O6 Retired).  Well worth seeing, lots of interesting curios.  Bring your ID though, and don't laugh at the new civillian guards who have no weapons.  Old gate is shut down from the last time I was there, and now you have to go in from the side.
